Данный материал содержит план урока и презентацию, которая используется учителем на разных этапах урока с различными целями: побуждение к высказыванию, снятие языковых трудностей, ключей для самопроверки и.т.д. На мой взгляд, тема, обсуждаемая учащимися на уроке актуальна.

FAME AND THE FAMIlY

          Цели:

          познавательный аспект – знакомство со статьeй Джулии Грэгсон «When Fame Hits        

          the Family»;

          развивающий аспект – развитие способности к догадке, качеств ума: гибкости и      

          логичности, коммуникабельности, способности осуществлять репродуктивные и    

          продуктивные речевые действия;

          воспитательный аспект – воспитание уважительного отношения к семье, к    

          ценностям, заложенными родителями, чувство ответственности и благодарности.

          учебный аспект: развитие речевого умения;

          сопутствующие задачи – развитие умения говорить на основе прочитанного и

          прослушанного материала.

ХОД УРОКА

I. Начало урока.

     I hope you are all great today, aren’t you? So, let’s begin our lesson.

    Today we are going to talk about fame and the family. / slide1/

II. Речевая подготовка.

  1. Look at the pictures on the screen. I hope you recognize the celebrities in them, don’t you?/slide  2/
  2.  So please answer the question: “What is the profession of the famous person in each one? /slide 3/

  On the screen:                                    film actor

                                                               playwright

                                                               tennis player

                                                         film director

                                                         footballer

  On the screen- the key: /slide4/

   

  Leonardo DiCaprio – film actor

  Jana Novotna           - tennis player

  Michael Owen         - footballer

  Steven Spielberg      - film director

b) And now I want you to turn your attention again to the screen:

Read the words written on it:/ slide 5/

                money, friendship, family life, entertainment, holidays, education

the things we can hardly imagine our life without. The question is:

On the screen: /slide 6/ “Which  three of these things are the most important to you”? Why? 

                  Well, if you want to say what you think about them or compare them you may use                

                   these phrases:

                                         In my opinion…

                                         In my view…     

                                         Personally I /don’t/ think that…

                                         Speaking about the three important things for me I choose…

                                         _______ is more important than ______ because…

                                         _______ isn’t as important as _______ because…  

     Mind: money is always singular:

                 Money makes the world go round.

                 It plays an important role in our life.

                 I have some money but I think it isn’t enough.

III. Развитие речевого умения.

    1. Reading for general information – 4 minutes

    And now I want you to read the article “When Fame Hits the Family” by Julia Gregson taken        

    from “Housekeeping Magazine”.

         

        Skim read the article for 3 minutes and choose which summary sentence best expresses the main idea of the article: /slide 7/

  On the screen:   1. The sacrifices the family must take for children to achieve success.

                              2. The benefits the family receives if children achieve success.

                              3. The importance of support from the family if children are to achieve                  

                                  success.

         You may check your answer with your partner first and now let’s check with the key:  /slide 8/

   On the screen:  3. The importance of support from the family if children are to achieve                      

                                  success.

          The article also talks about benefits and sacrifices, but the main point is the importance of      

          support. This is summarized in the final paragraph.

2. Reading for specific information.

           And now I want you to read the article for the second time. I’m sure these prompts will      

           make your reading easier: /slide 9/

On the screen:    to regret –to be sorry about

                             to  suspect – be sure

                             to cope with – deal successfully 

                             a talented youngster – a young person who has a special skill or ability

                             the total invasion on privacy – the complete loss of private life

                             the impact on family life – the effect on the ordinary, day-to-day life of the          

                                                                          family

                             spare cash – money for spending on luxuries

                             a “pusher” without being pushy – someone who is determined to get what          

                                                                                       they want, but without being over-

                                                                                       assertive

                             on and off the field – both as professional footballer and in some other career

7  achieved success because their parents took part in something.

      Look at the forms: “If I were famous…would you want…”

This is the example of the second conditional. It is used to describe something that is very unlikely to happen or is very far in the future. The following form will help you to answer the question:

On the screen: I would want them to… 

                          I would like them to…  

            2. Without the help of their family, do you think young people can ever succeed?

                 Please, try and think of specific examples to support your view, either of famous    

                 people you read about or people you know.

                 And what about you?  /slide 13/

                           OR 

                          4. Has your family already done anything to support you?                                                                                                                                                                                                        

                   Use the following expressions:

V. Подведение итогов.     I think today we’ve had a very important talk. We’ve turned our          

                                             faces to our families, spoke about the relations in the family,        

                                             discussed if every family is able to support their children if they

                                             want to be successful. And we’ve appreciated this support and      

                                             expressed many thanks to our  parents.

                                   

VI. Домашнее задание. I want to finish our lesson with a very melodious song. I know you enjoy listening to music especially to good one, don’t’ you?  So, listen to the song ‘ Our House’ by a band called Madness, then answer these questions.  /slide 14/

On the screen: 1.What impression does the song give to each member of the family?

                          2. What kind of memories does the singer have of his family home?

At home try to answer the following question:” What memories do you think you will have of your family home when you get older?”
