Тема: What is your hometown like?

Цели урока:

1. активизировать в устной речи ранее изученную лексику;
2. развивать познавательные интересы учащихся, их творческую инициативу в осуществлении иноязычной речевой деятельности;

 межпредметные связи с историей и краеведением;

3. воспитывать у учащихся чувство любви к родному городу, уважение к его истории, культуре и традициям; чувство коллективизма в общении с одноклассниками

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, картинки с изображениями достопримечательностей Владивостока.

Ход урока.

1.  Оргмомент.  (Знакомство учащихся с темой и задачами урока).

2. Учебный разговор  на тему «My country» в режиме Т               Р1 Р2Р3…:

        1. What things is Russia famous for?

        2. Which famous people do the Russians admire?

        3. What attracts tourists to Russia?

        4. Do you think there are problems in your country?

        5. The Russians are proud of their country. Is that so?  Etc.

3. Активизация в речи учащихся ранее изученной лексики и грамматических навыков.

T: Which of these characteristics come into your mind when you think of the citizens of Vladivostok?

     What are the citizens of Vladivostok to be like?

(учащиеся должны выбрать подходящие слова и составить с ними предложения – ответы)

P1 : I think the citizens of Vladivostok are friendly.

P2 : We are said to be hospitable.   Etc.

4. Знакомство с Памяткой «Сопоставление и противопоставление фактов» на стр. 32.
5. Создание презентации и составление рассказа о Владивостоке. (Данному заданию предшествовала следующая работа: некоторые учащиеся подобрали картинки с изображениями видов Владивостока в электронном виде, другие – информацию про родной город.(Приложение 1)

Учащиеся подбирают картинки к информации из ФАКТ-ФАЙЛА, составляют предложения и создают вместе электронную презентацию. (Приложение 2))

6. Проверка степени сформированности навыков монологической речи.

Vladivostok – Russian gate to Asian-Pacific countries.

Vladivostok - is the capital of Primorskiy Region, one of the most beautiful towns all over Russian Far- East, the biggest sea-port located on the Pacific Ocean shore. Duke Muraviev-Amurskiy - East Siberia Governor-general - was sailing around "Peter the Great Gulf" in 1859 paid his attention to a well-covered and convenient bay which was named 'Golden Horn'. On July 2nd 1860 the first settlers landed here and established military post to defend Russia from its East side.

Russian population could settle down here only from the middle of XlXth century after Aigun and Beijing treaties between Russia and China had been signed. There are 600.000 fishermen, seamen, construction workers, scientists and students dwelling on the coast of picturesque peninsula named after Governor-general Mu- raviev-Amurskiy. The business ways of many people are connected and determined by sea.

        Vladivostok good location makes it the real gate of Russia to Asian-Pacific countries. It is the biggest transport junction of international seaways and airways. Vladivostok City Hall and municipals, local businessmen are actively developing economic, political, cultural and sport relations with the countries of Asian-Pacific region.    

In 2012 Vladivostok became the place where the summit to be held of the countries involved in Asian-Pacific economical cooperation (APEC). Russian government assigned huge assets for the construction woks. Two bridges were constructed: the first one is over Bosfor East Bay to Russian Island, the second one: over the Golden Horn Bay, new airway infrastructure, highways, hotels and other facilities. Every day you can see how the face of region center is changing for the better.

As for Vladivostok architecture, there are eclectic styles; it seems to be incompatible in stiyes and traditions to cultures of West and East. There were no any sky scrapers therefore; the historical center is breathing with the spirit of ancient times. There are many specific outstanding buildings constructed in the end of XIX century. Splendour buildings of hotel "Versailles", the theatre named after great poet Pushkin, an old Vladivostok post-office building, museums and many others make Vladivostok truly unique town.

103 buildings are the monuments of great national importance. Still located in the centre of town forts, capon- niers, underway tunnels, casemates, fortifications make great impressions on tourists.

The capital of Primorskiy region is populated with many nations; there is a tolerant attitude to various religious, traditions and opinions. The churches and shrines of Vladivostok long ago became inseparable part of its history and culture. Twelve orthodox churches embellish the town and suburbs by its gold domes. Besides this, you may visit The St. Paul Lutheran church, St. Madonna Polish Roman-Catholic church, Marfo-Mariinskaya women monastery, shrines and temples of other religious cults. It should be said that many among them are the items of ancient architecture.

Abundance of Vladivostok educational centers impresses very much: 13 Universities, and several Moscow universities' branches, giving education to more than 60.000 students. The biggest universities are Far-Eastern national university, Far-Eastern national Technical university, Vladivostok medical state university, Maritime state university named after G.I. Nevelskoy, Pacific military sea Institute, Vladivostok state university of economy and service, Pacific economical state university, Far Eastern technical Fisheries University.

People often asked question: what is the best season to have a rest in your town? Surely, in summer and in autumn. Local dwellers, tourists, and guests are trying to visit seaside, the beaches of Lazurnaya Bay (former Shamora), Russian island, Popov island and island of Reineke. Vladivostok tourist companies will help to choose and organize the routes and provide rest at your pleasure. Being in Primorskiy region center during maritime, military holidays and other entertainments becomes more interesting in comparison with working days.

There are many routes for travellers both within and outside Vladivostok. Within resort zone located near the town one can research Muraviev- Amurskiy peninsula, be admired with the sea views on the shore Ussuri and Amurskiy gulfs. Traveling by ecological routes tourists get knowledge of the wonderful nature of Primorskiy region. The main part of Primorskiy region is Ussuri taiga (i.e. coniferous forest lying between tundra and steppe esp. in Siberia). It astonishes by its plants diversity: phellodendron amurense, mongol oak, Korean cedar, Manchuria nuts, hornbeam. Spotted deer, brown bear, black (Himalayas) bear and even the most unordinary at this place of taiga dwellers - Ussuri tiger,  being entered Red Book, may be encountered on the taiga path.

Every day you can see how the face of region center is changing for the better.

No doubt, the town will keep its attraction and fascination by his history that attracts many foreign tourists.
