- Boys and girls, the topic of our lesson is very interesting I think. After watching the film you’ll guess it I hope. Now I offer you a film. Please be very attentive and be active.

                              FILM.

1. Did you like the film?  Did you understand it? What is the film about? (It’s about English language, it’s importance, and role in different areas).

2. You are absolutely right. Would you like to continue the film?

3. OK. In order to make it we have to talk about reasons for learning English and find out why you and your friends learn English. So, the topic of our lesson is “Why do we study English?”              (слайд)
4. So, what do you think, why has English become an international language nowadays and what is English for us?

7. I’m sure in order to be the best and successful nowadays we must know English very well. They say there are different ways to learn a foreign language. Some people travel and meet English-speaking people, others read English books in the original. What is your opinion? Here you can see a lot of variants which way is the best one?

-  You are right, there are a lot of opportunities to study English. One of you has told that we can study English with the help of Internet. But we can use it not only for chatting but also use different sites. And today I am going to show you some of them. These are the addresses of the sites that can help you in your studies.

On these sites you can learn new words, revise or study grammar, read books and so on. At home open them and try to do some exercises and next time we’ll do at the lesson.

There are different reasons why people all over the world learn English. The English language is very popular nowadays. Can you say why you study English? Why do you need English? Try to find out each other and know the reasons of it?

8. Thank you very much. Your answers were interesting. I see that all of you understand the importance of knowing and studying English.  If you remember at the beginning of our discussion I mentioned about making the film. So let’s see what film it would be.

25. Yes, you are right. It’s my dream. I’d like to study abroad, for example in England. I think everybody should know a foreign language. As Goethe said “He who doesn’t know a foreign language, doesn’t know his own”.

32. Of course, it’s easy to communicate with foreigners if you know English,  it’s the best way to know more about the country, its traditions, customs, holidays, history or just to buy something or go somewhere. No doubt, it will help me to travel.
