I am glad to see you in good mood. Sit down, please.  I think our mood is connected with the weather.                                

 -What is the weather like today?                                     -What date is it today?                                                              -What season is it now?                                                    -  It is spring, the weather is fine and we are having a special lesson today-  we are receiving guests ! Let’s try to make our lesson useful and interesting

-When do we have guests?                                           -What holidays do you know?                                          -What is your favourite holiday?                                       -How do you feel on holiday?

-Is birthday a special day for you?

- Why do you like this day?

-Have you got any family traditions?

- Do you have a party on that day?

Mind-Map “Birthday Party ”

На столах лежат листы А4, фломастеры для составления кластера.

 -Your task is to draw a mind-map. You are to write as many words associated with “Birthdaу” as possible. I give you 1      minute. Let’s start. Stand up please and read your words

Учащиеся работают в группах. Представитель каждой группы презентует свой кластер.

Этап создания проблемной ситуации                (5 мин)

Учитель предлагает продолжить изучение темы “Birthday” обратившись к тексту учебника.

-There are so many words connected  with the word “Birthday” in your mind-maps.

 Now open your books on page 100, read the title of the text and say What is the text about?

 I give you 2 minutes to read the text “Birthday Treats”.  

 –Have you understood everything?                                       -There are some new words in the text. Let’s have a look on the board . You can see  new words  and phrases. Listen to me first, then you will read them one by one.

When you and your neighbour are ready you should exchange your sheets and check each other.

Work in pairs. Make your suggestions for food and drinks

• How about having a cake/a pizza/?
• That sounds great! Shall we buy some Coke/lemonade?
• Good idea! I like Coke/lemonade!

-Shall we make some sandwiches?

-I don’t like sandwiches.

-What about chocolate biscuits?

-I’d love to.

Use the pictures to fill the gaps.

We have a birthday party.

In my family  we invite our friends to a birthday party. Everyone brings a small gift. 

We eat special food .

My mum cooks a big birthday cake.

We decorate the house with balloons.  

We play traditional party games with my friends.
