PROCEDURE
1. Greeting and Aim.
T: Good morning, dear students! I’m very glad to see you today. How are you?
I hope that you are fine and ready for our lesson. As you know, today we have an English day. It will be an unusual lesson – the competition between the teams. I propose you to split into 2 groups and think of the name for your group. Now you have two teams. I wish you good luck and success.
2. The main part of the lesson (Основная часть урока)
Task 1.
T: Let’s start our competition.
So, the first task isn’t difficult for you.
It’s a Puzzle: “What is it? Find the word.”
T: Put the capital letters (on the bricks) in alphabetical order and make a word, using the small letters. You have 1 minute to do this task. Each team will have 1 point for the correct answer.

Card 1: flower; Card 2: blouse
Task 2.
T: Put the words in the correct order to make full sentences.
1. a/bedroom (There/big/the/is/bed/in)
There is a big bed in the bedroom.
2. the/are/paintings/There/beautiful/on/walls
There are beautiful paintings on the walls.
T: You have 1 minute to do this task. For every correct sentence 1 point will be given to you.
Task 3.
T: Write a word which starts with the last letter.
Team 1. Lamp – pencil – light – teacher – reader.
Book – kind – desk – keep – pen.
Team 2. Bag – garden – near – radio – October.
Flower – red – door – record – dream.
T: You have 3 minutes to do this task. You are given 1 point for each word.
Task 4.
Riddles.
T: Now, I am going to propose the riddles.
Do you like to guess the riddles? Of course, you do. I’ll read a riddle to both teams one by one. You have to answer it quickly and correctly. So, let’s start. For every correct answer 1 point will be given to you.
- What is it?
It is red and sweet,
And it is good to eat.
(An apple)
- What season is it?
This is the season,
When days are cool,
When we eat apples
And go to school.
(Autumn)
- It can tell you all the day:
Time to sleep and time to play.
(The clock)
- I have cities, but no houses, forests, but no trees, rivers without water, what am I?

- What is it?
What is it? Which can play but cannot walk?
(A piano)
- It is white, cold and sweet.
All children like to eat.
(Ice-cream)
- It has four legs, but it is not an animal.

- It is not a man, it is not a woman, but it teachers me.

- It has no leg but just for fun, it always on the run.
(A ball)
- What year lasts only one day?
(New Year)
- Five sons with one name.
(Fingers)

It has a long neck and long legs?

Task 5.
Find the colours.
T: Join the parts of the words and make the words (colours).

T: You have 2 minutes to do this task. Each team will have 1 point for every correct answer.
Task 6.
Guessing Game.
T: Play in teams. Mime an animal, an item, a thing. The other team guesses what it is. The team which finds out gets 1 point. The teams in turn play this guessing game.
(A fox, a peacock, a giraffe, a monkey, a mouse, a copy-book, a bike, a helmet, a digital camera, a guitar, a desk, a sofa и т.д.)
3. The final part of the lesson.
Summarizing.
T: So, our lesson is coming to the end.
Now we have finished all the tasks and it’s time to announce the winner.
The team with the most points is the winner.
According to the scores, we can congratulate the team № 2 on their victory. Thank you both teams for the participation.
