Разработка урока по английскому языку в 8 классе « Природные стихийные бедствия».
Тип урока - урок проверки и коррекции знаний и умений.

Цели и задачи урока:
совершенствовать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся;
развивать навыки поискового чтения;
формировать умения говорения на основе прочитанного текста;
научить использовать их в рамках заданной ситуации;
сформулировать и запомнить правила поведения в экстремальной ситуации
Задачи развития:
1. Развитие умения выделять главное, обобщать материал о природных катастрофах и правилах поведения в чрезвычайных ситуациях.
2. Развитие умения работать в команде
Задачи воспитания:
1. Воспитание коммуникативной культуры
Тип урока: - урок проверки и коррекции знаний и умений.
Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, презентации PowerPoint, диск
Ход урока:
I. Greeting
Good morning! I am glad to see you. Take your seats. Let’s start our work
Look at the pictures, please, and try to guess what we are going to speak about today. What can you see on these photos. (Pupils give their answers.)
Today we are going to speak about natural disasters that can happen all over the world. Such disasters happen often nowadays. And we need to know the ways how to protect ourselves no matter where we are. So we’ll speak about disasters .
Don’t risk it for the biscuit. Don’t put yourself at risk it may result in disaster.
II. In order to speak about natural disaster we should first give the definition of the word combination “natural disaster”.

What are some problems that occur after a storm?
Have you ever experienced an earthquake?
Where is the best place to go during an earthquake ?
IV. Now we are going to listen to the information about volcanoes. Be ready to make up your questions.
Where are volcanoes located?
90% of all volcanoes are located around the edges of the Pacific Ocean
Can you name a great volcanic island ?
Iceland is a gigantic volcanic island that has come up to the surface from this mountain range.
What islands are called hot spots?
They are the Hawaiian Islands
What material come to the surface during the eruption?
When a volcano erupts three types of material come to the surface: lava, small pieces of rock or ash, and gas.
Effects of volcanoes
1 .volcanoes may cause a lot of damage
2. Volcanoes often destroy the land around them completely.
3. big eruptions can kill many people,
4. ash pollute the environment
There are also advantages of volcanic activity
1. Volcanic lava and ash create good farmland.
2. Volcanoes build up new islands and mountains
3. Hot water is used to heat homes and greenhouses.
4.Countries with many volcanoes like Japan, Iceland or Italy use volcanic energy to produce electric power.
V. Listening.
Hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean ---1---officially from June 1st to November 30th. Weather scientists ---2---an active season of ocean storms this year.
But a lot have ---3---surprise at just how active this season has been already. The agency known as NOAA reported that the number of named tropical storms in the Atlantic set a record in August. NOAA is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the United States. Eight storms were strong enough ---4---a name in August. These stsarted with Alex, the first ---5---storm of the season. Four of the eight storms ---6---into hurricanes. This means they had ---7--of at least 119 kilometers an hour. The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida says the record before was seven. That was in 1933 and 1995. The Hurricane Center says the normal number of ---8---in a season through the end of August is four.

VI. Try to think about the rules – how to protect yourself during the earthquake. They happens so often nowadays and on the territories where it never happened before. So we all should know how to protect ourselves. Look at these pictures and discuss what you should and should not do during an earthquake.
1. Do not panic, keep calm.
2. Take cover under a sturdy piece of furniture. Stay away from glass and hanging objects.
3. If you are outside, move away from buildings.
4. If you are in a crowded place, do not rush for cover or to doorways.
5. If you are in a lift, get out of it as quickly as possible.
