I. 1. Оргмомент.
(Первая команда – команда учеников из Росси заходит в класс под гимн России, вторая команда – команда школьников из Америки входит в кабинет под гимн Америки.)
T: Good morning, children! Nice to meet you! We have a lot of guests today. Let’s greet them. Sit down, please. Now look at the blackboard. What is the topic of our lesson?
(на доске тема урока : Comparing Russia with America и слова для фонетической и речевой зарядки).
T: That’s it. Thank you. Today we are going to describe Russia and America, to speak about their symbols. So we are going to compare these two countries. We have a team of Russian pupils “Beryozka” and a team of American pupils “Uncle Sam.” I think they’ll introduce themselves. Let’s begin from the Russian pupils, because they are our hosts.
P1: Beryozka: We are Russian pupils. We study at school 136. Ksyusha is our captain. She is at the top of our class. These are my classmates: Alyona, Ilya and Lyonya. We live in Nizhniy Novgorod. Our city is modern and beautiful, it has a lot of sights.
T: Well, thank you. Now “Uncle Sam”, you are welcome.
P2 “Uncle Sam”: We are American pupils. Antony is our captain, he is the best student in our grade. We are good students, we work hard. We live in Washington ,DC, the capital of America.

T: Thank you. Well done. Now look at the blackboard and read geographical names filling in the articles where necessary.

T. Thank you. Wonderful. You know that Russia and America differ from each other but they have some similar items. Let’s compare them. Look at the maps of these countries and answer my questions about them in turn. Let’s begin from “Beryozka”.
1. What is the official name of Russia? 2. What is the capital of Russia? 3. What kind of country is Russia? 4. Where is Russia situated? 5. What oceans wash Russia? 6. What is Russia rich in? 7. So, captains, you are welcome. Antony will be the first.
2) P3:Uncle Sam: The official name of America is the United States of America. The capital of the USA is Washington, DC. America is a large country. It is situated in North American Continent. The Pacific and the Atlantic oceans wash America in the west and in the east. The USA is rich in rivers, forests, lakes. The largest river is the Mississippi. People in America are friendly, devoted, kind and brave.
T: Thank you. Great. Can you add anything about your country? And now Russian pupils, you are welcome.
P4: Beryozka: The official name of our country is the Russian Federation. The capital of Russia is Moscow. Russia is the largest country in the world. Russia is situated in Europe and Asia. The Urals divide Russia into two parts. The Arctic ocean washes Russia in the north and the Pacific ocean washes Russia in the east. The largest river is the Volga. Russia is rich in gold, silver and other minerals. People in Russia are kind, honest, devoted to the Motherland, friendly and brave.
T: Thank you. Very good. So, we see that Russia and America have different capitals, but they are washed by the same ocean, they are rich in forests, people in both countries are kind and friendly, They love their motherland
I think, you are tired, let’s relax a little. Stand up, please.

3)T: And now we are going to speak about Russian and American symbols. What Russian symbols do you know? And you, what American symbols do you know?
Now, look at the screen. Imagine, that your American friends don’t know anything about the Russian flag. Write down everything you remember about it, and you will write down about your flag. I’ll give you two minutes and then you’ll tell us about your flags.

T:P5, Will you tell us about your country’s flag. Listen to each other very attentively, you’ll answer some questions.
P6: Beroyzka: Our flag is white, blue and red. It has three stripes, the upper is white, the middle one is blue, the bottom is red. White stripe means noble and sincere, blue – honest and devoted, red- love and bravery. Our flag is displayed in the daytime and at night, during different holidays. We can see our flag in schools , offices, streets.
T: What does red colour mean? Where van we see the flag?
P7: Uncle Sam: Our flag is called “Stars and Stripes,” because it has50 stars and thirteen stripes. The flag has three colours: red, white and blue. Stripes stand for the first thirteen colonies, stars stand for 50 modern states, each star for one state. It is displayed in the daytime. We can see our flag in schools, offices, streets, newspapers, magazines.
T: What do stars stand for? What is the name of the American flag?

T: You see, Russian pupils also know much about the American symbols and I tnink, American pupils know about Russian symbols. Is that so?
Then look at the screen and and make up questions. Russian pupils about the birch and the American students about the Statue of Liberty, then you’ll ask each other questions.

T: You h|w was to describe one of your symbols without naming it. Who will be the first. Uncle Sam?
P8: It’sa bird. It became the official national symbol of the country in 1782. It has an olive branch (a symbol of peace) and arrows (symbol of strength). You can see it on the back of a dollar bill. What is it?
P9 It’s a bird. It’s strong and brave. It’s the official symbol of our country. It has two heads, it has scepter which symbolizes power. We can see it in coins. What is it?

T. I see, you know much about the Russian symbols, but what you know about Russian people. Let’s read the text “Russian People” and say what and who eussia is famous for.
III. Подведение итогов.
