2 Основная часть урока

Pupil 1.
THE SONNET by William Shakespeare
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red, than her lips red:
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound:
I grant I never saw a goddess go,--
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet by heaven, I think my love as rare,
As any she belied with false compare.
Pupil 2.

T. Who the author of this poem? Look at the portrait of this famous man. Do you know who he is? (слайд 1)
P. He is W. Shakespeare.
T. You are right. Today we’ll speak about W. Shakespeare, his life and work, his role in English literature. I hope you’ll learn many interesting things about this poet. And now, will you give some attributes or, may be, some nouns to describe him. What associations have you got looking at this portrait?  W
hat do you know about  Shakespeare?
Ps.  A famous poet,  lived many years ago, a writer, clever, looked with proud, sad, an actor, happy, etc.

T. And what would you like to know?

Ps.   When and where was William Shakespeare born?
How many brothers and sisters has William?
Who was his father?
What did William Shakespeare learn?
Where did William Shakespeare go after school?
When did William Shakespeare marry?

T. To get the answers to these questions you will work in 4 groups and find them in your texts. Each group will get the text and picture, read it attentively and find the information  to the picture. Then we discuss them. You have a table which will fill in the course of work. (каждым учеником заполняется по ходу таблица, первая колонка К (know) вторая колонка  L (learned) ).

P. (group1) One of the greatest writers in the world is William Shakespeare. He was a dramatist. He was born on April 23, 1564 in Stradford-on-Avon. His mother was from the farmer’s family. His father was a merchant. And he had several houses in the town. There is little information about William’s childhood. It is known that he got the education at the Grammar school. In 1582 he got married to Anne Hathaway. And later three children were born in this family: two girls and one boy. When William was at the age of 21he moved to London and left his family. (слайд 2)

P. (group2) In the capital William Shakespeare became an actor and a member of the big acting companies. Soon he started writing his own plays for this company -Lord Chamberlain’s Men. And only in a few years he was a well-known author. He wrote about 37 plays for his life. So the most famous tragedies are Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Macbeth. Such comedies as  All’s Well that Ends Well, Twetfth Night,  A Midsummer Night’s Dream, What You will really stood out. Henry IV or Richard II are historical plays about the last of England. In 1599 the famous theater Globus was built. His plays were performed in this theater. There was no roof in this building. (слайды 3,4)

P. (group3)  “Romeo and Juliet”- an optimistic tragedy. Staged in all kinds of theatres. This wonderful love stores is about two lovers Romeo and Juliet. Unfortunately, they died, but they didn’t stop loving each other. They stayed young forever! “Othello” is a play about love and jealousy, a play about a person who believed the lie and killed his wife whom he loved dearly. “Hamlet” is a great philosophical tragedy. It is the story of a man who loved good and hated evil who loved truth and hated lies. The character of Hamlet is one of the most difficult in world literature. This role was played by the best actors of all times and peoples. John Gielgud was the best in the role of Hamlet in England. Russian poet and actor Vladimir Vysotsky was brilliant in our country. (слайды 5-8)

P. (group4)  The last year of his life William Shakespeare lived in Stratford. In 1616 he died and was buried in the local church.  But some years later the monument was built to him in the Poet’s Coner in Westminster Abbey. Now we can say that it was not only a great poet, but a great humanist. He believed in noble features  of man’s mind. Many of his works are inspired with ideas of optimism, struggle for your idea, desire, harmony with yourself. His tragedies and comedies teach us to be honest, strong and keep your ideals. (слайды 9,10)

T. What you wrote in the second column of the table?

Ps. He was born on April 23, 1564 in Stradford-on-Avon, he got the education at the Grammar school. in 1582 he got married to Anne Hathaway, etc.
