PINOCCHIO

MASTER ANTONIO - Good firewood!

MASTER ANTONIO - Where is my ax? Oh, here it is!

PINOCCHIO - Oh! Don’t hit me! Don’t hit me anymore!

GEPPETTO - Oh! Good afternoon, Master Antonio! What are you doing there on the floor?

MASTER ANTONIO - I’m teaching the ABC to this piece of wood. What brought you to me, Geppetto?

GEPPETTO - My legs. I came to ask something of you.

MASTER ANTONIO - I’m ready to help you.

GEPPETTO - Will you give me this piece of wood? I want to make a nice wooden puppet. This puppet must know how to dance and to jump like an acrobat. I shall get money to buy some bread and milk.

MASTER ANTONIO - Take this piece of wood!

GEPPETTO - What name shall I give him?

PINOCCHIO - Pi, Pi…

GEPPETTO - Pinocchio. It’s a very nice name! Eyes, mouth, arms, legs.  What is this? Stop it! You’re a bad boy! Give me back my cap!

PINOCCHIO - Oh, it’s cold. I’m very hungry! Oh, there is a house!

OLD MAN - Who is this?

PINOCCHIO - Oh, please, please! Give me a little bread!

OLD MAN - Wait there! (This is one of the liars) Wait a minute!

OLD MAN - Come up to the window and take your bread!

PINOCCHIO - I’m so cold! How can get warm? Oh, there is a fireplace!

PINOCCHIO - Oh, who is there?

GEPPETTO - It is I!

PINOCCHIO - Oh, my legs, my legs are burnt!

GEPPETTO - Open the door!

PINOCCHIO - Oh, Papa, I can’t!

GEPPETTO - Why can’t you?

PINOCCHIO - Because I have no feet!

GEPPETTO - Open the door, I tell you!

PINOCCHIO - I can’t stand up! What shall I do?

GEPPETTO - Bad joke! I’ll get into the window!

GEPPETTO - Oh, you, little stupid Pinocchio. I will make you new feet.

PINOCCHIO - Thank you, papa.

PINOCCHIO -I will show you that I’m a good boy. Tomorrow I shall go to school.

PINOCCHIO - But I have no clothes

GEPPETTO - One minute

PINOCCHIO - I look like a gentleman now

GEPPETTO - Yes, you do. But you must know this: not good, but clean clothes make a gentleman

PINOCCHIO - I can’t go to school

GEPPETTO - Why?

PINOCCHIO – I have no schoolbook.

GEPPETTO - I have no money. I can’t buy you a schoolbook. But wait a little. I shall be back soon

GREENGROCER - Fruit, Fresh fruit

SALESWOMAN - Buy nice pictures

FLOWERS SALESMAN - Flowers, beautiful flowers.

MILKMAN - Milk, fresh milk

BOOKSELLER - Like to read – buy the book

GEPPETTO - Have you got a school book?

BOOKSELLER - Yes. I have with a lot of beautiful pictures.

GEPPETTO - But I have no money

ALL - Ohhhhhhhh…

GEPPETTO - But I have a warm coat

OLD MAN - So… take the book

GEPPETTO - Pinocchio will be glad.

GEPPETTO - Pinocchio!

PINOCCHIO - Papa, what?

GEPPETTO - Here is your book!

PINOCCHIO - Thank you very much! Thank you, papa.

PINOCCHIO - Where is your coat, Dad? It’s snowing. Did you sell it?

GEPPETTO - I sold it because it was too hot for me.

PINOCCHIO - Really?

GEPPETTO - Too hot for me.

PINOCCHIO - It’s snowing. Tomorrow, I shall go to school. I’ll study to write and read at once.

Study well.

PINOCCHIO - I shall get a lot of money. With this money, I shall buy a beautiful new coat, for you, Daddy!

PINOCCHIO - Music. Today I shall listen to music and tomorrow I shall go tot school

HARLEQUIN - Great puppet theatre!

OLD MAN - You will laugh all day long.

PIERRO - Only one performance.

PUNCHINELLO - Come here, boys and girls.

ALL – Come here, boys and girls.

PINOCCHIO - I want to see your performance.

HARLEQUIN - Where is your ticket?

PINOCCHIO - I haven’t got it, but I have this, a very beautiful book,

HARLEQUIN - Okay, then, come in.

Oh – oh – oh….

HARLEQUIN - Let’s start the show.

HARLEQUIN - I’m Harlequin.

PUNCHINELLO - I’m Punchinello

PIERRO - I’m Pierro.

OLD MAN - I’m Servetta

HARLEQUIN - Hey, Pierro !

PIERRO - I’m poor Pierro !

HARLEQUIN - Get it!

HARLEQUIN - Once again!

Poor Pierro!

PIERRO - Pinocchio! Oh, my God, this is Pinocchio!

PINOCCHIO - Poor Pierro!

SHOW MAN - Why are you making so much noise?

SHOW MAN - Terrible noise!

SHOW MAN - This noise!

SHOW MAN - Awful noise!

SHOW MAN - So much noise! Pinocchio?

PINOCCHIO - Please, please, sir, it is not I!

SHOW MAN - Don’t talk too much!

SHOW MAN - We shall have a talk after the play!

SHOW MAN - Bring that puppet into the kitchen!

SHOW MAN - I shall put him on the fire and I shall make a good dinner.

SHOW MAN - Play and dance, puppets!

SHOW MAN – Down!

SHOW MAN - Put him on the fire!

ALL - Please, Master, don’t do it!

PINOCCHIO - Papa, papa, come and save your Pinocchio! I don’t want to burn!

SHOW MAN - Don’t cry! Let him go! Where are your papa and your mama?

PINOCCHIO - Papa is at home but I have no mama.

SHOW MAN - You poor little thing! But I have no wood, I can’t make my dinner. What shall I do? Puppets!

SHOW MAN - Bad wood! Bad wood! The good one! Pierro, jump into the fire! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

PINOCCHIO - Don’t do it! Don’t do it!

ALL –  Don’t do it! Don’t do it!

SHOW MAN -  Stop, silence! What is your father’s name? Puppets, go away!

SHOW MAN - Brave boy, I see you’re a very brave boy. Has your father got much money?

PINOCCHIO - Oh, no! He’s very poor. He sold his coat to buy a schoolbook for me.

SHOW MAN - Poor old man. I am sorry for him. Here 5 gold pieces. Go and give them to him.

PINOCCHIO - 5 gold pieces for my father Geppetto.

FOX - Good day, Pinocchio!

CAT – Good day.

PINOCCHIO - You know my name, but I don’t know you.

FOX - I know your father well.

CAT – Yes, we know!

PINOCCHIO - Where did you see him?

FOX - I saw him yesterday at the door of his house.

CAT – At the door of house.

PINOCCHIO - And what was he doing?

FOX - He was cold.

CAT – Very cold.

PINOCCHIO - Poor papa! But that is over. He will not be cold anymore!

FOX - Why?

PINOCCHIO - Because I have a lot of money now.

FOX - A lot of money?

CAT - You?

PINOCCHIO - Why are you laughing? Stop laughing! Look at these 5 gold pieces!

FOX - What do you want to do with all that money?

PINOCCHIO - First, I want to buy a new coat for my papa. Then I shall buy a schoolbook.

FOX - What for?

PINOCCHIO - I want to go to school.

CAT - Foolish! Look at me! I lost my eyes because I learned at school.

FOX - No! No! Look at me! I lost my leg because I learned at school.

FOX, CAT - Oh! What a terrible school!

BIRD - Pinocchio! Listen to me! I’m a little bird! Don’t listen to them they are bad friends!

CAT - Poor bird!
