  Be a friend. You don’t need money;                                    Другом быть без денег можно,

Just a disposition sunny;                                                           Просто добрый нрав поможет,

Just the wish to help another                                             Просто помогать кому-то

Get along some way or other; 

                                                                                          Рядом в трудную минуту.

Just a kindly hand extended                                                       Протяни c улыбкой руку

Out to one who’s unbefriended;                                                  Ты тому, кто ищет друга,

Just the will to give or  lend,                                                        Лишь с желаньем отдавать

This will make you someone’s friend.                                   Сможешь чьим-то другом стать.

Be a friend. You don’t need glory.                                       Другом быть без славы можно.

Friendship is a simple story.                                                        Дружба – просто, а не сложно.        

Pass by trifling errors blindly,                                                      Не заметь порой ошибку,

Gaze on honest effort kindly,                                                      Встреть старание улыбкой,

Cheer the youth who’s bravely trying,                                 Юных поддержи в их рвении,

Pity him who’s sadly sighing;                                              А печальных — с сожаленьем;

Just a little labor spend                                                              Ведь не велика работа                 

On the duties of a friend.                                                          К другу проявить заботу.

 Be a friend. The pay is bigger                                             Другом став богаче станешь 

Than is earned by people clever                                                 Тех талантливых людей,

For the profits of your labors;                                                    Это выгодно для дела,

Makes many devoted cry.
Let our speech be kind and gentle

Absurd and profane language.
 We should all deny.
And speak refined and mild language,

With careful thoughts and devoted hearts.
Our tongue we should defy.
Against a word of abuse or slander,
Kinds words never die.

Love is sweet to the heart.
Dignity is beautiful to the eye,
Pleasant words is friendship bliss,
Kinds words never die.

Abuse'r words often make.
Temptations in our bosom fly:
Wisdom reflects and ask forgiveness,
Kind words never die.

There's pleasure in the sunshine
That sleeps on the hill;
In the fall of the water;
In the leap of the rill;
In the leaves that are stirring
By the breath of the wind:
But nowhere such pleasure
As in words that are kind.

The bright clouds that cover
The cerulean skies,
And th'e autumn's sweet sunset -
How dear to the eyes!
But brighter and dearer
The affectionate mind,
That scatters, like sunshine,
The words that are kind.

I love the calm waters,
The sky and the earth:
The morning that bringeth
Creation to birth;
Sweet bloom and rare beauty
I everywhere find:
But these are as phantoms
To words that are kind.

Kindness

How hard is it to give someone a little kindness
To tell them they are pretty when they ask
If they are
To help to raise themselves
From the pit in which they fell

How easy would it be to have a little kindness
To be the light
In someones darkness
To be the healer, & friend that would help
To save them from themselves

How unbelievable is it to see someone needs your kindness
Someone who's arms hang low from shame
Who's head is filled with pains unknown
Who's arms are scarred & self hatred grown

What do you think that little bit of kindness
That you could have given to someone today
Could  have brought them to continue on
When they planned to end their life
Because now they know that there are good people out there

Where is the kindness
That we should all have in our hearts
Show to our neighbors
Have from the start

Leave kind words as mementoes
To be handled and caressed,
And watch the noon-time hour arrive
In gold and tinsel dressed.

Speak kindly in the evening!
When on the walk is heard
A tired footstep that you know,
Speak one refreshing word,
And see the glad light springing
From the heart into the eye,
As sometimes from behind a cloud
A star leaps to the sky.

Speak kindly to the children
That crowd around your chair,
The tender lips that lean on yours
Kiss, smooth the flaxen hair;
Some day a room that’s lonesome
The little ones may own,
And home be empty as the nest
From which the birds have flown.
