Beauty and the Beast

Once upon a time there was a (1.) who had three daughters. The (2.) didn’t have much money and they had to work hard to survive. Only the youngest daughter tried to be happy. Her name was Beauty because she was very beautiful. One day the (3.) decided to go away and earn some money. The two eldest daughters asked for new clothes and (4.), but Beauty said that she would just like a (5.).

As the father was walking back through the (6.), he found a large (7.). In the garden, he saw some roses and remembered his promise to Beauty. As he picked one, a terrible Beast appeared, who was angry that he had taken a rose. The Beast said he would kill the man unless he could marry one of his daughters.

So the father took Beauty to stay at the Beast’s castle. Beauty was frightened of the Beast at first, but she enjoyed her (8.) because there were many interesting (9.) to do. And when she was asleep, she always had beautiful dreams about a handsome (10.).

Soon Beauty wasn’t afraid of the Beast any more. Every evening the Beast came to Beauty and asked if she would marry him. Every evening Beauty said no. One morning Beauty found the Beast lying in the (11.) and she thought he was dead. Suddenly she realized that she really loved him and she began to cry. The Beast wasn’t dead and began to move.

 Later that evening the Beast came in and asked if Beauty would marry him. This (12.), she said yes, and when she looked at the Beast, she saw that he had turned into the prince from her (13.). They got married and Beauty and the Prince lived happily ever after.

Task 2. Here you can see a summary of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. Rearrange the sentences in the logical order. You needn’t rewrite the whole sentences, just put a corresponding figure. To do this task correctly, follow the text above. For each right choice you get 1 point.
