Вл время  урока по теме "Shopping for food" дети вспомнят изученную лексику по теме. Организуется работа в парах, группах. На уроке используются красочные раздаточные материалы, так что детям будет интересно.

Class profile:

Age 10-11, 5 boys and 8 girls

Aims:

Main: students will talk about food using conversational formulas “At the shop”.

Subsidiary:

  1. to improve speaking skills,
  2. to revise words on topic “Food”;
  3. to revise “I like/don’t like” structures;
  4. to revise countable and uncountable nouns;
  5. to revise quantities “many-much”;
  6. to improve writing and reading skills.

Assumed language:

Students already know the words on topic “Food”, also they can use conversational formulas “At the shop”.

Anticipated problems:

  1. Some students may forget the phrases how to do the shopping.
  2. There can be a problem with time.

Solution for the problems:

  1. To provide students for necessary exercises to let them remember the phrases.
  2. If there is a time problem, miss activity №5.

Timetable fit:

This lesson is based on “Spotlight – 5”, Module 8. Students have just studied “Birthday food”. Module 9 is “Shopping for clothes”.

Brainstorming. Divide students into two-three groups. In turn teams name the food they know. They should not name the word twice.

Ask students to divide food-words from the text into two groups. If students do not understand which groups should be, do the following activity. If they understand what to do, just miss it!

Eliciting. Take pictures of countable and uncountable food. Begin to divide pictures into two groups and ask students why you do it.  As students already know the rule they will remember the class what countables and uncountables are.

Give students home task. Students should write a short story “Shopping for food”. In this story they should write which of their family goes shopping for food, what they usually buy.

Follow –Up activities

1. At the next lesson students may read their stories to the class.

2. Students think over the problem of healthy food and interview their classmates what healthy food they eat. Then students make a poster what healthy (unhealthy) food is.
