Деятельность обучающихся на уроке направлена на на овладение навыками описания достопримечательностей Лондона, а также изложения фактов, связянных с историей королевской семьи. Отдельные фрагменты урока связаны с практикой навыков словообразования, что является частью подготовки к итоговой аттестации в формате ОГЭ.

Topic: Royal London.
Aim: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to speak about the places in London connected with the Royal family and famous Kings and Queens.
Objectives: by the end of the lesson the students will be able:
1) to speak about famous London Parks, palaces and museums;
2) to describe the English Kings and Queens;
3) to answer the questions about Royal London;
4) to do the task in NEF (word-building)
5) to match the words and their definitions.
Materials and equipment: textbook “English VI”, activity book “English VI”, Power Point Presentation “Royal London”, cards, handouts.
New lexis and structures: permission, important event, formal actions, remember.
Language to be revised: the British places of interest, active vocabulary on the topic “Royal London”

Correct the Sentences. 1.The Tower of London is the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II. 2.There are twenty parks in and around London. 3.London Zoo is situated in St. James’s Park. 4.King Henry VIII had eight wives. 5.In front of the Buckingham Palace there is a monument to Queen Elizabeth II. 6.Queen Elizabeth I ruled for the longest period in the English History. II. Lexical Drills. (The task is given to the students on the cards and they do it individually. Then they check it up using the presentation) Match the words and their definitions. 1. monarch a. a circle made of gold which kings or queens wear on their heads. 2. ceremony b. a group of countries that are all controlled by the ruler of one country. 3. throne c. the period of time during which someone is a king or a queen. 4. crown d. a king or a queen 5. reign e. to make someone remember something they must do. 6.remind f. a special chair used by a king or a queen at important ceremonies. 7.empire g. formal or traditional actions used at an important event. III.Word-building. Form the right part of speech and put it down on the blackboard.
IV.Oral speech. The class is to be divided into 2 groups. For this purpose each student takes the card of the certain colour. 1 group: Look at the map of London. (P.P.Pres.)Find the places connected with the Royal family. Say what you know about them. During your answers the 2 group is to mark the places on the map. Pupil 1:There are many places in London connected with the Crown. There are royal palaces, royal parks, roads and streets where the beautiful ceremonies are held. The most important building in London is Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the Queen. Pupil 2:There are ten royal parks in and around London: Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, St. James’s Park. Each park has its own character. They are open to the public free of charge. Hyde Park and Regent’s Park used to be hunting forests. Now Regent’s Park is the home of London Zoo. Pupil 3:Royal processions usually walk along the Mall- a wide avenue in the center of London. Pupil 4:The Victoria and Albert Museum is one of the famous museums in London. It reminds us about love between Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert. The museum has rich collections of paintings and works of art. 2 group: Tell us about kings or queens whose names are specially remembered. (P.P.Pres.) During your answers the 1 group is to match the pictures of famous Kings and Queens and their descriptions. Pupil 5:Most people remember Henry VIII only because he had six wives. But he was an important monarch. Under him Britain became independent of the Roman Catholic Church, got richer and more powerful. Pupil 6:During Queen Elizabeth reign England became very important in European politics, The Spanish Armada was defeated, arts and especially theatre developed. The country became very powerful. Pupil 7:Queen Victoria ruled for the longest period in the English history, for 64 years. She married a German Prince Albert, whom she loved very much. But he died at the age of 42. That was a great tragedy for queen. Victoria had nine children. Her reign was a period of culture progress. Pupil 8:Elizabeth II was born in Windsor on the 21 of April in 1926. She got her education at home. She studied Latin, Geography, Economics and Music. In 1847 she married Prince Philip and the next year Prince Charles was born. Elizabeth came to throne in 1952.
