TOPIC: MY SCHOOL LIFE

You are going to give a talk about your school life. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10-12 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Question 1. What's your weekday like?

I go to school in a small village. Usually I wake up at 7 o'clock and have breakfast. I really like picking out a dress that will make me feel happy and get me through a long day.

My classes begin at 8.40. At noon I go to lunch and chat with my friends.

We have six lessons as well as some extracurricular classes every day. So at the end of the week I feel really tired. Physics and maths make my school days even more stressful. However, I still find time to do some dancing on weekdays!

Question 2. How many lessons do you usually have?

Usually, I have six lessons. On Monday and Friday I'm as busy as a bee because we have seven lessons. I often stay at school after classes to improve my knowledge of different subjects. Our teachers are always ready to help us. 

Question 3. What do you like about your school most of all?

There are lots of things I like about my school. And I'm always pleased when people ask me about the place where I meet my teachers and friends.

The school is located in the countryside, 100 km away from St Petersburg. It is surrounded with gorgeous pines, birches and firs. The scenery is peaceful and charming. The design of the school building is unique. Besides, my teachers and friends are helpful and understanding. It is a place to learn how to become kind, open-hearted and creative. 

This is what makes my school so special for me.

Question 4. Do you prefer classroom learning or online learning? Why?

As for me, I prefer the traditional classroom learning because it offers a unique experience.

Students enjoy face-to-face communication both with their teachers and their peers. When they have questions, the teacher can address them right away. Young people may actually learn better in social situations. It really benefits the learners if they have a sense of community rather than feeling an isolated person tapping away at a computer.

Question 5. Is it important to wear uniform? Why?

I believe it is important to wear uniform at school.

First, wearing a uniform is a badge of pride and an important part of being a school student. It creates an identity for a school.

Second, school uniforms teach students to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance.

Third, there is no competition about being dressed in the latest trend. So wearing a school uniform is less expensive.

To sum up, though I dislike wearing my school uniform, I'm sure it makes the classroom a more serious environment.

Question 6. What clothes do you wear to school?

As for me, I don't like wearing my school uniform at all but I have to. So usually, I put on a blouse, a black jacket and trousers. When the weather is fine, I prefer a school dress or a skirt.

Question 7. When do you have school holidays?

The Russian school year runs from September to May. In our country schoolchildren have their holidays four times a year.

Spring holidays are in March. Summer holidays begin on 1 June and are usually three months long. Autumn holidays are in November. Winter holidays are longer. They begin in December and often last for two weeks.

Question 8. What holidays would you like to make longer? Why?

As for me, I'd like to make spring holidays longer. There are always things to do in spring due to fine weather and awakening of nature. It's a great time to relax and have an adventure. The warm and fragrant embrace of spring makes travelling more enjoyable and romantic.

Question 9. What do you enjoy doing during your school holidays?

During my school holidays I prefer playing the piano. Music is my passion. Singing and dancing can set a good mood for the next school term.

Sharing some free time with my parents is always a treat for me. A movie together or a quick meal in a cafe can feel a bit special.

I also enjoy taking photos of St Petersburg and making short films about the places I visit.

It's only reasonable to take a break from the hectic school schedule.

Question 10. What school subjects have you chosen for your exams? Why?

As for this year, I have chosen English and history for my exams because my careful preparation has given me the skills I need to succeed at university and beyond. Undoubtedly, English and history are the most important subjects for my future job. They help me understand people of other countries, respect their culture and communicate with them in the most effective way.

Question 11. What subjects at school do you find most useful for your future? Why?

English and history are most useful for my future. My ambition is to have a good command of English and become a professional interpreter. Learning foreign languages, meeting new people and travelling worldwide is fascinating.

Question 12. What are you going to do when you leave school?

Speaking about the time when I leave school, I think I'll face the biggest challenge of my life.

To continue my education, I'm going to move to St Petersburg. There are a lot of good opportunities for my career plans. 

I'd like to become a competent interpreter so I'm determined to enter the university. It would be great to get a good quality education in one of the most splendid cities in the world!

To sum up, though I struggle to fit everything into my busy schedule, each day at school is amazing and rewarding. School education is the key to my future. I really appreciate my teachers and parents, their help and support.
