O. Henry “The Last Leaf”

Задачи урока:

1. Совершенствование коммуникативных умений в четырех основных видах речевой деятельности.
2. Развитие умений вести беседу по прочитанному рассказу и выражать свое мнение по обсуждаемой теме, устно выступать с сообщением по результатам работы над проектом.
3. Развитие творческих умений и умения работать в сотрудничестве.
4. Воспитание доброты, милосердия в отношении к окружающим, интереса к культуре стран изучаемого языка.

Оснащение:

рассказ, портрет автора, компакт-диск “The Royal Family”,   презентация 1 “O. Henry”, презентация 2 “Princess Diana”, журнал “The World of English” (2007, №3), карточки, буклет, аудиозапись, компьютер, проектор, магнитофон, материал для проектной работы.

Ход урока

1. Организационный момент.

T: - Hello, girls and boys! Glad to see you! How are you? Feeling friendly?  

       You are welcome! We’ll have a wonderful time together! Smile more and  

       everything will be OK!

2. Речевая зарядка.

1. Беседа.

T: - We always enjoy travelling to the world of English literature. Am I right?

Ps: - Certainly, we like to read stories by English writers.

- We like English books. Etc.

    2. Игра «Синквейн»

     T: - What is a book? What role does it play in our life? Let’s think a little and  

           express our mind by “cinquiene”.

     a book

    I - interesting, useful

    II - to read, to borrow, to like

    III - I can’t live without books.

    IV - It is a source of information.

     T: - Are you ready? Let’s discuss our points of view.

3. Актуализация.

Беседа об авторе и рассказе “Последний лист”

T: - Today we will speak about the story “The Last Leaf”. What is it about?

Ps: - It’s about kindness, heartiness and a great power of friendship.

T: - Who is the author of the story?

Ps: - O. Henry.

T: - What can you say about the author?

     T: - Wonderful! Thank you for your information.

4. Работа по рассказу.

1. Обсуждение. A round table.

T: - We are at a round table now. I hope everybody will be active.

5. What would you do if you were Berhman or Sue?

    T: - Thank you. I’m pleased with your answers.

     2. Развитие монологичекой речи.

      1) T: - Could you describe the characters of the story:

  - Johnsy

  - Sue

  - Berhman

  - the doctor

 2) T: – Let’s review the whole plot. Try to retell the story:

  - as Johnsy

  - as Sue

  - as Berhman

  -as the doctor

5. Творческая работа.

T: - So we’ve understood that Berhman had a big heart. His kindness saved Johnsy’s life. Are there people as Berhman in real life?

           - What is charity?

      Ps: - Charity is doing good things.

            - Charity is helping those who need our help and support. Etc.

1. Brain storming.

T: - Many charity events are organized in the world. What can you organize for charity?

(Ответы учеников пишется на доске.)

      Ps:        -    a fair;

• a concert;
•  a meeting with famous people;
• an exhibition of our handmade things, etc.

      2. Проектная работа.

      T: - What charity event would you like to organize? What would you do for  

       that? You may express your ideas on the paper with words or pictures.

(Работа проводится в 4 группах.)

      T: - Now it’s time for the presentation of your dreams. We are ready to listen  

       to you.  

(Лидеры представляют идеи своих групп.)

 T: - Thank you. May all your dreams come true.

6. Ознакомление со страноведческим материалом.

T: - Please look at the screen now. Whom do you see?

(Презентация 2, слайд 1)

Ps: - Princess Diana.

T: - What interesting facts of her life do you know?

Ps: - She was married to Prince Charles.

           - They had two sons.

           - Diana died in a car accident.

      T: - What is she famous for?

      Ps: - She did charity work.

      T: - Yes, she did a lot of charity work, though she was only 36 years old when  

      she died. Today we have a chance to see some episodes of her life.

      T: - Yes, she was a great person with a kind heart. Her words prove it once

      more.

     expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the

     same for you.” – Princess Diana

7. Итог.

   T: - Well, our lesson is coming to the end. Thank you for your activity. We should always remember that life is more beautiful when people try to understand, help and support each other. The more love you give away, the more you are left with.
