D. Hi there! Welcome to Let’s go! Programme 3.

F. Today’s programme is extra special because we’ve got some reports all the way from Greece, from Japan and from South America.

D.There’s some great music and we’ve got a tricky word puzzle.

F. And an impossible tongue twister- I can’t say it.

D. And a new game.

F. We have the second episode of our true life story of exploration and adventure.

D. But before that, the let’s go ! reporters have been doing some exploring themselves and they’ve just arrived back from… Well, here’s the clue ( South American music) … that’s right. It’s Peru.

M. Hello.

Max. Hi!

F. Where exactly did you go?

M. We went to Andes mountains in Peru.

D. Fantastic. What did you do there?

Max. We did some very exciting sports.

F. Great, let’s hear about your visit to Peru.( pan pipe music).

M. We’re in Andes in the middle of Peru. I’m standing on a mountain and I’m learning climbing. I need a pair of boots, a helmet and a climbing rope. It’s important to be safe when you do this sport.

D. How did you get down safely?

M. I use my rope. I’ll tell  you how to get down this cliff. You tie the rope to something at the top,  put the rope around you … Then you lean backwards over the cliff and walk slowly and gently back downwards.

F. Mark! That looks a bit dangerous.

M. Don’t worry. It’s quite safe. You let a little bit of the rope slip through your hands as you go. Because it is around your body as well, you can’t fall. This is called abseiling.

Max. Well, while Mark was climbing, I was canoeing. It’s really exciting, you can go so fast, the water splashes all around you, you have to think really quickly. You don’t always know what is round the next bend in the river.

D. Has your canoe ever been over?

Max. Yes, often. It happened three times last week. But I don’t fall out of the boat. I could use my paddle to turn the canoe the right way up again quickly.

F. Thank you, boys. And now It’s Over to you!

D. Have you ever been to the mountains? When did you go? Do you think climbing is scary? Do you think canoeing is fun? Talk to your friends.

F. Who is that? Girls you are welcome! What country are they going to talk about? Do you know?... Japan, of course.

D. They have an exciting report about Anime and Manga. Do you know what is it?

F. Well, the reporters had a great time in Japan, didn’t they?

D. And they know a lot about Japanese cartoons. And you? Here is the quick quiz.

A. Where does anime come from?

N. What are the main parts of the face?

A. Would you like to draw anime characters?

D. Thank you, girls. Here are Diana and Kate. They have visited Greece and they have one more report for you.

F. Welcome back, was it a good trip?

K. Oh, yes, yes…

D. Who is going to start? Diana, tell us about it.

Diana. We watched the changing of the guard at the parliament building in Athens.

K. The guards look amazing- actually, they don’t look like the guards at all!

F. Why’s that, girls?

Diana. They wear traditional Greek costume. They have a white shirt and a short jacket without sleeves. They don’t wear trousers. It’s like a skirt really, with lots of material in it, and underneath they wear white stockings on their legs. You might think the costume sounds silly, but the guards look wonderful. Here’s a photo I took.

D. Oh, yes look at it.

K. After Athens , we went north to Olympia. It’s where the Olympic games were held more than two thousand years ago. Most of the buildings were destroyed in an earthquake hundreds of years ago. But the Olympic flame for the modern games is always lit there and carried to the Olympic stadium, wherever it is. Here’s a picture of the ruins.

F. That’s really interesting, girls. Where did you go then?

Diana. To  Crete. It’s an island in the Mediterranean, but it’s part of Greece.

D. So what did you do on Crete?

Diana. We went to see the ancient  palace . It was build more than two thousand years ago. There were beautiful pictures on the walls, dolphins and other animals.

K. Then we went to watch some dancers and musicians. They were great- we loved the music.

Diana. Yes, we did! They were  playing  bouzoukis.

 F. Did you join the dancing?

K. We did at the end. The dancers invite everyone to join in. It was great!

D. Thank you , girls. And now, guess these words. Try to solve these clues.

D. Did you get all those?

F. They were quite ease, weren’t they?

D. Now it’s time for the game. Three different animals were painted on the palace walls. What were they? Listen and guess.( dolphin, fish, bird)

F. Here’s the great tongue twister! Can you say this?

D. Greek glass glows in the gloom/

F. This one’s really hard. try to say it yourselves.

D. So, we had a wonderful programme today.We’ll have to wait till next week to find out some more interesting things.
