Этот урок  - один из системы уроков в §8 «Мои лучшие впечатления» в 5 классе по УМК Кузовлева В.П., но его можно использовать и в §4 «Узнаем больше о Лондоне» в 5 классе по УМК М.З. Биболетовой.  Мне представляется возможным использовать эту разработку, особенно презентацию, и в 7 классе по УМК Кузовлева  В. П.  Надеюсь она окажется для вас полезной.

Задача урока: Организация общения по теме « Узнаем больше о Лондоне». Цели: социокультурный аспект – знакомство с достопримечательностями Лондона; развивающий аспект – развитие способности осуществлять продуктивные речевые действия , развитие внимания, способности слушать, понимать, обобщать и формулировать ответы; воспитательный аспект – воспитание уважительного отношения к иноязычной культуре и ценностям; учебный аспект – развитие речевого умения (монологическая форма речи), навыков чтения и аудирования.

Ход урока. 1. Учащиеся рассказывают об известных уже им достопримечательностях: Вестминском дворце, Букингемском дворце, Вестминском Аббатстве и Лондонском Тауэре.( Слайды 7,8,12-15,19,26-30,34-36). При необходимости учитель использует гиперссылки, которые содержат информацию об этих интересных местах. 2. Чтение текста о Соборе Святого Павла. На экране текст (можно раздать печатный текст учащимся). (Слайд 38). Перед чтением следует обратить внимание на незнакомые слова, которые даны ниже текста. Затем ребята отвечают на вопросы по прочитанному. (Слайд 40)

3. Аудирование. Ребята слушают небольшой текст о Трафалгарской площади. Учитель читает текст 2 раза. В это время на экране вид площади. (Слайд 41). Потом учащиеся отвечают на вопросы. (Слайд 51). 4. Подведение итогов.

Westminster Palace The Houses of Parliament

Westminster Palace It is the seat of the Parliament. This is the place where laws are passed and all important political questions are discussed. It is not just one building but a great mass of buildings. This vast complex covers an area of about 3 hectares. It contains 1100 rooms, 100 staircases and 11 halls. The Palace is really impressive with its three massive towers: the highest of them is The Victoria Tower, it is 102 m high, then there is The Middle Tower and St. Stephen’s Tower, which is the most known tower in London because it houses the clock that people often call Big Ben. This tower is one of the most famous symbols of London. Big Ben is not the official name of the tower. It is something of a nickname. This is the bell we call Big Ben.

The House of Commons and House of Lords have met at Westminster Palace since 1550. People can visit the Palace, it is open to the public. The entrance is at the Victoria Tower. At one end of the House of Lords there is a Throne from which the monarch read the special speech when she opens the Parliament. The large amount of gilding can dazzle the eyes. The atmosphere is just fantastic here. There are beautiful frescoes on the walls. The members of the chamber sit on the red benches. This is the traditional colour of the House of Lords. The head of the House of Lords is the Lord Chancellor. He sits on the red woolsack during the session. The woolsack is the symbol of Britain's wealth. It is very comfortable.

The House of Commons is rather small . It is not so beautiful as the House of Lords. The members of the Parliament sit on the green benches, they are at either side of the Speaker’s chair. There is a red line on the floor. It is another great British tradition. When the members of the Parliament read their speeches, they should never step over this line. This tradition goes back to the medieval times when during the debates the members of the Parliament often fought with each other. The line was drawn to prevent them from doing it. Of course, there is no fighting at the Parliament/ The prime minister speaks from the center of the chamber. The Speaker’s green chair is a present from the members of the Australian Parliament.

The Tower of London It is the most famous fortress in the world. William the Conqueror started to build it in 1076. The internal court of the fortress is surrounded by high walls with 18 towers and 2 gates. Each tower has its own name. For example: the Bloody Tower, the Devereux Tower, the White Tower etc. In 1483 King Edward V and his brother Richard were murdered in the Bloody Tower. Robert Devereux who was a minister in the 17-th century was put in prison for treason( измена) . First of all it was a royal residence from the 13- th century until the 16-th century. Then it became a prison for enemies of the Monarch. Many people were executed there. Now it is a museum..

These men in colourful uniform are the Beefeaters , the guardians of the tower. It is a tradition to wear in this way. Their uniform was designed some centuries ago and never has changed since then. The Beefeaters also take care of ravens, they give them meat twice a day. Ravens is another legend of the Tower. There are 9 royal birds. The British believe if ravens disappear, the Tower will fall down. For many centuries the tower of London was known as the White Tower because in 1240 Henry III painted the fortress white. This name is still used to the central part of the fortress. This Tower is special. Walls are 5 meters thick here, the windows are narrow, the doors are very heavy and thick.

The Jewel House is the most interesting place in the Tower. Here you can see the Crown Jewels (сокровища короны) . There are many crowns, Royal swords, scepters and other symbols of the Monarchy on display. Here you can also see the largest diamond in the world “The first Star of Africa” that was presented to the British Royal Family by the people of South Africa, and the legendary Koh-i-nur diamond. The history of this diamond goes back to the 13-th century, a legend says that it will bring good luck to any woman who wears it but disaster to any man who touch it. Koh-i-nur means The Mountain of Light.

Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British Monarch. It was built in 1677 and received its name from the Duke of Buckingham who lived there. In 1762 king George III bought the Palace as a present for his wife. The first monarch who lived and worked there was Queen Victoria in the 19-th century. The Palace is situated at the end of wide avenue, the Mall. It is one of the most famous building in the world. It is used for many official events, receptions. The Palace is also a busy administrative centre.

The Palace is a very big building with 400 rooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a landing pad, and a large garden with a lake. 550 persons work in the Palace., they help The Queen in her job as the Head of State. They also keep the Palace clean. The Palace is open to visitors during August and September when the Queen is on holidays. They can enter some parts of the Palace, the most beautiful ones.

The Grand Hall. The great staircase here is made of marble and leads to the Throne room. There are so many portraits on the walls. They are the Queen’s grandfathers, grandmothers, and other ancestors ( предков). They were kings and queens many years ago. Some portraits are 200 years old. The Throne Room is one of the largest rooms in London. It is really long and wide. There are two thrones here. One is for the Queen, one is for her husband. The Queen uses this room to meet very important guests. The Prime Minister comes to see her every week, when a foreign Head of States visits Britain, the Queen also welcomes his/her in the Throne Room.

The State Dining Room. It is so beautiful and amazing! It is used for States Banquets. On the walls there are priceless paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens. There are very many States Banquets every year. About 50000 people visit the Palace every year as quests of the Queen. Once a year the Queen holds the Diplomatic Reception here with 1500 guests. They sit at a large table in the centre of the room. The table is so big that people who polish it attach dusters to their feet and walk on it.

The Drawing Room . In this room the Queen meets ambassadors (послы) , judges and clergy ( представители церкви) who come to visit her . All furniture here dates from the 19-th century. Sometimes it is used as a concert hall for concerts and performances. In this room the Queen meets recipients (лауреатов) of British honours and give them their awards. The awards are The St. George С ross and the Order of British Empire.

The Palace garden covers 40 acres. There are many flowers and trees and even a landing pad for helicopter that the Queen sometimes uses. In summer the Queen gives three garden parties. The party always starts at 4pm. Guests enjoy tea and sandwiches in the garden. The Queen invites people who have done good work in different fields: scientists, politicisns, sportsmen.

Westminster Abby It is the official church of the British Monarch. The coronations of all British monarchs have taken place here since 1066 and many kings and queens are buried here. The Royal tombs and monuments to famous people: the scientists Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin, the writers Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling, the actor and director Laurence Oliver. It is the most beautiful church in the country and it is 31 metres high. There are tree main parts in the church: the nave, the Sanctuary and the Poet’s Corner.

The nave is the main hall of the Abbey. There are rows of chairs, the stained glass windows that are really impressive. The crystal chandeliers hanging on the ceiling were a gift from the people of Ireland in honour of the Abbey’s 900-th anniversary. A portrait of Richard II hangs on the wall here. It is the oldest portrait of an English monarch. The portrait was painted in the 14-th century and shows the king in his royal robes with his royal symbols in his hands. At the end of the hall there is the Tomb of Unknown Warrior. It commemorates (служит напоминанием) the British who died in various military conflicts.

The Sanctuary ( святилище) is the central part of the Abby, there are monuments to heroes and important Britons. In the Poet’s Corner you can see the monuments to William Shakespeare that was made in 1740, this monument is surrounded ( окружён) by monuments to other great British writers: Robert Burns, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters. Here is the Coronation Chair . All kings and queens sat on this chair when they were crowned. The chair has been used at all coronations since 1307. It is a very important symbol of Monarchy.

St .Paul’s cathedral is another sight of London. It is one of the symbols of London. It was destroyed and reconstructed several times. It was last reconstructed by a great English architect Christopher Wren. The Cathedral is 175 m long and 111 m high. It is very beautiful. It is famous for its unique acoustic. There is the Whispering Gallery there. If you want to get there you must climb 263 steps. If you whisper anything on one side of the gallery another person will hear your words on the other side. St. Paul’s Cathedral is a place for many state ceremonies. Every year a special service is held on Queen’s birthday. There are tombs of some famous people including Christopher Wren in the Cathedral. Trafalgar Square is the point of mass meeting, different events and celebrations throughout the year. Several millions of tourists visit this place to enjoy its magnificent design. In the centre there is Nelson’s Column . This impressive monument was created in the memory of the victory of Admiral Nelson over the Spanish fleet (флот) in 1805. The battle took place at Cape Trafalgar in the Straits of Gibraltar on October 21, and became a turning point in a very long war.

To commemorate (служить напоминанием) this victory it was decided to make this Square which was opened to the public in 1832. Ten years later the monument to Admiral Nelson was erected ( воздвигнут) . The column is 50 m high, on the top you can see a 5 m stone statue of Nelson. There are the statues of four lions around the column. They symbolize courage and bravery ( храбрость и смелость) . These lions, each 6 m long and 4 m high were made of bronze and placed here in 1867.

• Many different events take place in Trafalgar Square. • First of all, the Lightning of Christmas Tree Ceremony is held on November 29. Then in December the Square turns into an avenue for Christmas festivities ( празднований) . People of Norway send a very large Christmas tree (20 m high) as a present. Every day musicians perform both classical and modern music to raise money for various charities (благотворительности) , the illumination is fantastic! The Square is an ocean of light.

  • учебный аспект – развитие речевого умения (монологическая форма речи), навыков чтения и аудирования.

Оборудование:     компьютер, презентация, опоры на доске.

                       Погружение в коммуникативную ситуацию.

  1. Оргмомент.

  1. Фонетическая  и  речевая зарядка.

     Используются ЛЕ по теме. (Westminster Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, Key Ceremony, Buckingham Palace, British Monarch. etc.)

                                  ( Подготовка речевого аппарата  учащихся к    

                                    работе на уроке и повторение Л. Е.).

                                                                           

      3.   Развитие речевых умений учащихся.

          Учащиеся  рассказывают об известных уже им достопримечательностях: Вестминском дворце,  Букингемском дворце, Вестминском Аббатстве и Лондонском Тауэре. ( Слайды 7,8,12-15,19,26-30,34-36). При необходимости учитель использует гиперссылки, которые содержат информацию об этих интересных местах, (монологическая речь)

  1. Формирование навыков чтения с поиском заданной информации.

     Чтение текста о Соборе Святого Павла. На экране текст (можно раздать печатный текст учащимся). (Слайд 38). Перед чтением следует обратить внимание на незнакомые слова, которые даны ниже текста. Затем ребята отвечают на вопросы по прочитанному тексту. (Слайд 40)

  1. Развитие  навыков аудирования.

    Аудирование. Ребята слушают небольшой текст о Трафалгарской площади. Учитель читает текст 2 раза. В это время на экране вид площади. (Слайд 41). Потом учащиеся отвечают на вопросы. (Слайд 51).
