Утро… В компании Continental Equipment начинается новый трудовой день. В общем, совсем обычный, как многие другие. Сотрудники на своих рабочих местах. Обмениваются впечатлениями о вчерашнем дне, строят планы на будущее, но сегодня они собраны и скорее всего, будут очень работоспособны.

Красота компании Continental Equipment - секретариат и приемная. Здесь все должно быть прекрасно : одежда, макияж, душа и мысли.

Hi-tech компании - Technical Service Department - отдел технического обслуживания. Провода не порваны, свет есть, телеграфы работают, Интернет подключен.

Personnel Department - отдел кадров. Здесь как обычно будут беседы с претендентами на различные должности. Вопросы выучены, анкеты подготовлены, ручек и бумаги хватает.

Сердце и мозги компании Continental Equipment - международный отдел - International Department. Глобус на столе, чтобы вспомнить страны и города, куда надо звонить, ехать, лететь. Генерального директора нет пока… к счастью. Все расслаблены и спокойны. Настроение хорошее, погода ясная, головы светлые. Надеемся, что сегодняшний день будет удачным, плодотворным как для компании, так и для сотрудников. И пожелаем им удачи.

1.Our dear quests! You are welcome to the company Continental Equipment. The aim of our working day is to prepare for successful participation in the exhibition DAL’EXPO where there will be held the presentation of our company And now I’d like our managers to speak on the point.

The presentation of the Company

 “Continental Equipment.”

Our company produces process equipment. Our firm consists of 6 departments: Production, Sales, Export, Financial, Personnel and Research & Development.  

We export our equipment to 5 countries all over the world. Besides, we have two daughter companies in Holland and Germany. Each company trades under its own name. We are looking for new partners in Eastern Europe as well, as we would like to expand our activities. We establish personal and business contacts with other companies. Our managers prepare and send our price- lists and catalogues to our business partners.

We usually take part in different business seminars,   presentations and exhibitions. We usually get diplomas, certificates and awards for our production, which is very popular and in great demand on the market.

2 The participants of the exhibition DAL’EXPO will visit our company and first of all our secretary’s and reception office. Let us see how they work, what problems and terms they try to solve and what our secretary can share and produce about her job.

In the Secretary’s office

Natalie: Good morning. My name is Natalie. I've got an appointment with Svetlana at 10.15.

Svetlana: Oh, Natalie, it's nice to see you here. How are you?

Natalie: Fine, thank! And you?

Svetlana: Pretty well too, thank you. This way, please. Would you like a cup of coffee?

Natalie: With pleasure. It's very cold today.

Svetlana: Yes, the weather hasn't been very good lately.

Natalie: That's right, but it's usually warm in February.

Svetlana Now, how about our quotation and catalogues? Have you looked them?

Natalie: Sure! We've studied them. The new model is very good.

Svetlana: Yes, it's of high quality. We've just started producing the model and we've received a lot of orders.

Natalie: We are interested in buying your machines.

Svetlana: Have you seen our contract?

Natalie: Not yet.

Svetlana: Would you like to look it?

Natalie: Yes.

Svetlana Here you are, please study our terms and let's meet again next Tuesday. All right?

Natalie:Yes, of course and you will discuss the contract with our managers and Director-General. Thank you. Svetlana: Good bye.

Р.- Hello, how are you?

П.-I’m fine? Thank you

Р.- How did you get known about our company and position of a Sales Manager?

П.- I got known about your company Continental Equipment from newspapers and advertisements.

Р.-What reference do you have from your last job?

П.-I worked at the  Company “Millenium”. I’ve got very good references.  

Р.-Why have you decided to change your job?

П.-I want and like changes and that’s all.

Р.-Why have you chosen our company?

П.- I think your company is very promising. You are going to expand your activities, including foreign countries. You see it’s very interesting to cooperate with other countries.

Р.- Are you always interested in political and economical situation in Russia?

П.-Sometimes.

Р.-Do you have any diplomas or awards for your work?

П.-It’s a pity, but I don’t have them yet.

Р.- Can you operate computer well?

П.-Yes, of course.

Р.-Thank you very much. We’ll study all your documents and contact you by telephone. Good – bye.

4 International Department is the heart, the brains and the soul of our company. International Department establishes business contracts, leads talks, signs and conclude contracts. We have our branches and daughter companies in Germany, France and Great Britain. We expect them to take part in the DAL’EXPO.Let me introduce our British manager Mr. Cartright  who is responsible for business talks about process equipment of our company with his Russian partners Mr. Pospelov. Let us listen to their discussion.

Manager:  I'd like you to meet Mr. Pospelov, our Director General.

Mr. Cartwright:  Glad   to   meet   you,   Mr. Pospelov.

Mr. Pospelov: So am I. Have you ever been to Vladivostok, Mr. Cartwright?

Mr. Cartwright: No, it's my first visit.

Mr. Pospelov:  What are your first impressions of Vladivostok ?

Mr. Cartwright:  It's a very beautiful city and quite different from London.

Mr. Pospelov:  I hope you'll enjoy your visit, Mr. Cartwright.

                         By the way, Mr. Cartwright, what are you by profession?

Mr. Cartwright: I'm an engineer. But at Continental Equipment I work as a Sales Manager.

Mr. Pospelov:  Let's get down to business, Mr. Cartwright. We're extending our business and want to buy equipment for producing in Vladivostok  some goods we are importing now from western countries. We know some companies, like yours, that produce the sort of equipment we need. Your company provides advanced technology and efficient service, which small companies can't provide. That's why we are interested in your equipment.

Mr. Cartwright:  Yes. I see. You'll be pleased to find out that service life of our equipment was extended, and we reduced its price.

Mr. Pospelov:  Would you mind speaking a bit slower, Mr. Cartwright? I'm not very good at English.

Mr. Cartwright:  Sure. I said we had improved the performance of our equipment.

Mr. Pospelov: It's very interesting. But first of all I would like to know if it's possible to adapt your equipment to our needs.

Mr. Cartwright:  To answer your question, Mr. Pospelov, I have to visit your factory and study your requirements.

Mr. Pospelov: I’ll show you our factory tomorrow.

Mr. Cartwright – What time?

Mr. Pospelov:  Let me see... I have an appointment with my lawyer at 9 a.m. How about 10?

Mr. Cartwright: That's fine.

Mr. Pospelov: Mr. Cartwright, you have a  driver during your visit. His name is Oleg.

Mr. Cartwright: Thank you very much, Mr. Pospelov.

Mr. Cartwright: Goodbye, Mr. Pospelov.

Mr. Pospelov: Goodbye, Mr. Cartwright. See you tomorrow.

Вечер…В компании Continental Equipment заканчивается рабочий день. В общем, совсем обычный, как и многие другие. Сотрудники на своих рабочих местах, слушают музыку, приводят себя в порядок, складывают бумаги, отключают РС, обмениваются впечатлениями о прошедшем дне, строят планы на вечер. Все немного усталые, но настроение хорошее, погода ясная, головы, правда, не очень светлые.

Надеемся, что завтрашний день в компании Continental Equipment будет снова удачным, плодотворным и, возможно, откроются новые горизонты как для компании, так и для ее сотрудников.
