What's the Weather Like Today?
Look through the window!
What's the weather like today?
Is it sunny?
(Cross palms and move fingers be sun rays)
Is it rainy?
(Knock with fingers on the table be rain drops beating against the window)
Is it wet?
(Pretend to shake of water)
Is it dry?
(Pretend to dry hands with a towel)
So, any weather is fine!
A Leprechaun
A leprechaun is small and green,
(Use a hand to indicate a small person)
He hides where he cannot be seen.
(Cover eyes with hands)
But if you catch one on this day,
(Shake fingers)
He must give his gold away.
(Pretend to put gold in the pocket)
Two Little Blackbirds
Two little blackbirds
Sitting on a hill.
(Point finders up)
One named Jack,
(One hand forward)
And one named Jill.
(Other hand forward)
Fly away, Jill,
(One hand behind back)
Fly away, Jill.
(Other hand behind back).
Come back, Jack,
(Return one hand)
Come back, Jack.
(Return other hand)
Little Duck
I am a little duck that goes quack, quack, quack.
(Make hand be duck's mouth and it quacks)
And I've got lots of feathers on my back, back, back.
(Wave hands near bottom to indicate tail feathers)
And when I go down to the lake,
I wiggle and I wobble and I shake, shake, shake..
(Wobble and shake around like a duck)
And when I go to sleep at night,
(Pretend to be sleeping with hands as pillows)
I close my eyes very light.
But in the morning when I wake,
I wiggle and I wobble and i shake, shake, shake.
(Wobble and shake around like a duck)
Little Bird
One little bird with lovely feathers blue.
(Hold up first finger)
Sat beside another one. Then there were two.
(Hold up second finger)
Two little birds singing in the tree.
Another came to join them. Then there were three.
(Hold up third finger)
Three little birds, wishing there were more.
Along came another bird. Then there were four.
(Hold up fourth finger)
Four little birds, glad to be alive.
Found a lonely friend. Then there were five.
(Hold up thumb)
Five little birds just as happy as can be.
Five little birds singing songs for you and me.
(Move all the fingers)
Mrs. Pigeon
Mrs. Peck Pigeon
Is pecking for bread.
Bob-bob-bob.
(Bob head up and down)
Goes her little round head.
Tame as a kiity cat,
in the street.
Step, step, step.
(Take three steps)
Go her little red feet.
With her little red feet.
(Point to feet)
And her little round head,
(Point to head)
Mrs. Peck Pigeon
Goes pecking for bread.
White Swan
Come, pretty swan.
(Thumb is swan's head, closed fingers are body)
Swimming over the lake.
(Move your hands to make the swan swim along)
I've brought you some breadcrumbs
And small bits of cake.
(Make the swan's head dip down into the water and up again as it eats)
Take care, pretty swan!
Swim away! Swim away!
(Move your arm quickly to make the swan swim away)
There's a great hungry crocodile
Coming this way.
(Make crocodile motions, with jaws opening and closing)
Snip, snap! Go his jaws.
He is frightful to see.
But he'll never catch you!
(Point outward)
And he'll never catch me!
(Point to yourself)
Ten Little Ducklings
Ten little ducklings.
(Move hands back and forth in wadding motion)
Dash, dash, dash!
Jumped in the duck pond.
(Motion of jumping)
Splash, splash, splach!
When the mother called them,
“Quack, quack, quack”.
ten little ducklings
Swam right back.
(Motion of swimming)
Alligator Finger Play
Here is the alligator.
(Right hand forms alligator)
Sitting on a log.
(Right hand on left forearm)
Down in the pool
(Make horizontal circle of arm)
He sees a little frog.
(Put hands around eyes like binoculars)
In goes the alligator
(Diving motion with hands)
Round goes the log.
(Forearms go round each other)
Splash goes the water.
(Hands go up in the air)
Away swims the frog.
(Swimmimg motion with hands)
I Wiggle
I wiggle my fingers,
(Wiggle fingers)
I wiggle my toes,
(Wiggle toes)
I wiggle my shoulders,
(Wiggle shoulders)
I wiggle my nose
(Wiggle nose)
Now no more wiggles are left in me.
So I will be still as still can be.
The Elephant Trunk
The elephant has a great big trunk
(Pretend an arm is the trunk)
That goes swinging so,
(Swing trunk)
He has tiny, tiny eyes that show him where to go.
(Point to eyes)
His huge ling ears go flapping, flapping up and down.
(Pretend hands are ears)
His great feet go stamping, stamping on the ground.
(Stamp feet)
This little bear has a fur suit
(Hold up thumb)
This little bear acts very cute.
(Hold up pointer finger)
This little bear is bold and cross.
(Hold up middle finger)
This little bear says, “You’re not boss.”
(Hold up ring finger)
This little bear likes bacon and honey.
(Hold up little finger)
But he can’t buy them, he has no money!
((Shut them up into fist)
Ten Little Fingers
I have ten little fingers and they all belong to me.
(Hands upright)
I can make them do things, would you like to see?
I can shut them up tight.
(Shut them up into fists)
Or open them wide.
(Open them wide)
I can put them together, or make them all hide.
(Close fists together)
I can make them jump high.
(Swing hands above head)
I can make them jump high.
(Swing hangs down low)
I can fold them up quietly and hold them just so.
(Place in lap)
Turtle
There was a little turtle who lived in a box.
(Crouch down and pretend to have shell on back)
He snapped at a mosquito, he snapped at a flea,
(Snapping actions)
He snapped at a minnow, he snapped at me.
He caught a mosquito, he caught the flea.
(Pretend to catch)
He caught the minnow , but he didn’t catch me.
This little froggie broke his toe.
(Point to one finger at a time)
Froggies
This little froggie said, “Oh, oh, oh”.
(Hold up thumb)
This little froggie laughed and was glad.
(Hold up pointer finger)
This little froggie cried and was sad.
(Hold up middle finger)
This little froggie did just what he should.
(Hold up ring finger)
This little froggie hopped straight to his mother as fast as he could.
(Hold up little finger and hop fingers quickly away)
