Урок английского языка в 4 классе.

Тема урока:

The symbols of the United States of America.

Цель урока:

1). Познакомиться с символами Соединенных Штатов Америки.

Задачи: а). Повторение, закрепление лексики по теме и универсальной лексики.

б). Повторение и закрепление звуков.

в). Активизация знаний о США.

г). Продолжение знакомства с символами США.

д). Повторение конструкции Complex Object

2). Развивать умение работать в парах и индивидуально. Развивать основные учебные навыки. Сохранять здоровье детей.

Задачи: а). Создание условий для эффективной работы в парах.

б). Организация работы в парах.        

в). Развивать умение активизировать и использовать пассивную лексику.

г). Развивать навык монологической речи.

д). Развивать умение работать с текстом.

е). Развивать зрительную память.

ж). Использовать смену видов деятельности учащихся я целью предотвращения быстрой утомляемости.

з). Проведение физкульт. минутки с целью сохранения здоровья учащихся.

3). Прививать терпимость и уважение к чужим национальным культурам и традициям.

Задачи: а). Прививать уважение к национальной культуре, символике США.

б). Воспитывать патриотизм, гордость за национальные традиции.

г). Прививать навыки общения с ровесниками, с взрослыми.  

Оборудование:

Учебник, раздаточный материал, карта США, медеапроектор, ноутбук.

Ход урока:

  1. Организационный момент.

Good morning, children. I am glad to see you. Sit down, please. Who is on duty today? Who is absent? Thank you. How are you? And you? Good. Today we are going to speak about the symbols of the USA and to learn more information about them. What is it? And I have got some stars from this flag for you. The right answer – the star.

    2. Фонетическая разминка.

But first we are going to learn a small poem about Columbus. Who was Columbus? Well done. So, let’s start. Repeat after me, please.

LET’S REMEMBER COLUMBUS.

In fourteen hundred and ninety-two

Columbus sailed the ocean blue…

Let’s sing together this old song

About the voyage that took him long,

About the sailors, those strong brave men.

Let’s sing and remember them all again!

And now we are going to repeat it all together. Well, I am going to put away a line by line. So, let’s repeat it one more time. Good.

3. Развитие диалогической речи.

Well, I know that some of our pupils are going to the USA. Let’s listen to them. (dialogue p. 208, Ex. 6)

           5. Развитие монологической речи.

But I think that our pupils can also tell you a lot of interesting about the USA. The USA is a young country but it has a very interesting story. Let’s listen to this story.

There are different symbols in the USA. And now our pupils are going to tell us about them.

Thank you very much. I want to check your memory now. Answer my questions, please.

1. What are the colours of the American flag?

2. How many stars are there on the flag?

3. How many stripes are there on the flag?

4. What symbolizes the Statue of Liberty?

5. What symbolizes the bald eagle?

Thank you. And now you are to make small test. You have 3 minutes to do it.

You know that Americans are very proud of their country. There is an anthem in the USA which they know by heart but we are going to read it today. You can see the translation of it on the papers. I should say it is very difficult for us.

               6. Развитие навыков чтения и аудирования.

We speak about Americans. But who is the real American? To know it I want you to listen to the text and make some tasks. But first pay attention to the new words.

neither nor - ни…ни

descendent - потомок

hence - отсюда, следовательно

mixture – смесь

blood – кровь

point out – указать

Dutch-датский, голландский

prejudices- предубеждение

mode of life- образ жизни

embraced- принимать

melted- таять, растворяться

prosperity- процветание, благосостояние

And now listen to me very attentively. Put the sentences in the right order. Check yourself.

What then is the American, this new man? He is neither an European, nor the descendent of an European, hence that strange mixture of blood, which you will find in no other country. I could point out to you a family whose grandfather was a Dutch, whose son married a French woman, and whose present four sons have now four wives of different nations. He is an American, who leaving behind him all his ancient prejudices and manners, receives new ones from the new mode of life he has embraced, the new government he obeys, and the new rank he holds… Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men, whose labours and prosperity will one day cause great changes in the world.
