Greeting.

 T: Hello, boys and girls. I am your English teacher for this lesson. We have a lot of guests in our classroom today. Let’s greet them. Sit down.

  What day is it today? What date is it today? (Slide1)

The theme of our lesson today is “Hobby”. Hobby is what we like to do when we have free time.

  Our lesson is not an ordinary lesson. We’ll visit two countries and learn about hobbies in these countries. And this magic ship will help us. (Slide2).

 Can you guess what countries are we going to visit? (Slide3)

 But we can start our trip if we train some sounds

   Open your books on page 144 and let’s do exercise 2.

   Listen and repeat.  ( Tape-recorder)

1. To introduce new words and word combinations.

- Read the names of hobbies.

- Match the pictures and the words.                     (Slide 4)

- Look at the pictures and try to make up sentences – “My hobby is…”     (Slide 5,6)    

2.To practice new words in speech.

- Look at the pictures and try to make up short dialogues.  

  What is your hobby? – My hobby is…     (Slide 5,6)    

 -Well done. Now we are ready to start our trip.

3. To read the text.

-We are in the United Kingdom. (Slide 7)

- Let’s read the text about English girl and her friends.

  My name is Lisa. I’m from Great Britain. I study at school and have a lot of friends. We like to spend our free time together .But we have different hobbies.    

 My friend Nick likes horses and he is fond of horseracing.      

 My best friend Jess is interested in music. Her hobby is listening to rock.  

  Andy spends his free time with a computer. His hobby is playing computer games.    

 As you can see our hobbies are different but we all like riding a bike. Every weekend we go to the country by bike. It’s really great!   (Slide 8)

4. To check the understanding of the text.

- Read the sentences. If the statement is true you will repeat it. If the statement is false you will disagree and correct it.

  1. Lisa is from Russia.

  2. She has a lot of friends.

  3. Nick’s hobby is horseracing.

  4. Lisa’s best friend is fond of dancing.

  5. Andy likes to play computer games, doesn’t he?

  6. All pupils like to swim on Sundays.                           (Slide 9)

- So we’ve learnt about British pupils’ hobbies. But it’s time to go to the USA.

- Open your exercise books and write down the date. Your task is to make up the words on the topic “Hobbies”.   (Slide 10)

 - Now let’s check your work.

1. We are in the United States of America. (Slide 11)

 Look at the pictures and try to tell about the hobbies of American students.  (Slide 12)

    - Well done. ( Good) It’s time to work in groups. You should prepare a project about the hobbies in Britain and in America. Here you can see different cards/ You should choose the necessary pictures, make a poster and then introduce it to your classmates and guests.

2. It’s time to return home. We are at home, in our wonderful town. (Slide 13)

   I hope you’ve learnt a lot about hobbies in other countries. And now I want you to tell me about your hobbies. You may also tell about your friends’ and relatives’ hobbies.
