1. Оргмомент. Приветствие!

Teacher: Dear boys and girls! I am very glad to see you at our lesson today because we have an unusual lesson – a competition. There are two teams at the lesson. They will show us their knowledge of Novosibirsk because our lesson is devoted to this Siberian city. We’ll speak about the sights and interesting facts. We’ll have several tasks at the lesson. I hope the competition will be fun. I have lots of flags here. For a correct answer you will get a flag.  The winner will be the team with the biggest number of the flags. The students who show the best knowledge of Novosibirsk will get special prizes. Let’s start our competition and introduce our teams to each other. What’s the name of your team?

VII. Составление диалогов. And now you have the last task. You are to make up the dialogues on the following situation.  

1. Your friend has just come from Novosibirsk. You ask him questions about this city. (Ваш друг только что вернулся из Новосибирска.  Вам нужно расспросить его о городе.)

• Oh, hello! I haven’t seen you for ages!  Where have you been?
• Hello! I went to Novosibirsk. And I have just come back.
• Great! What is your impression of the city?
• You see, it is large and noisy on the one hand but really beautiful on the other hand. There are many parks, buildings and churches there.  
• What churches in Novosibirsk do you know?
• The temple of St. Alexander Nevsky, The Chapel of St. Nicolai… By the way, the citizens are sure that the Chapel symbolizes the center of Russia.
• Did you go to the Opera and Ballet Theatre? What can you say about it? Is it really as large as I heard?
• That’s true. More over, it is the biggest theatre in Russia!
• Is there a zoo in Novosibirsk?
• Of course, there is. Around 7000,000 people visit the zoo each year. And the symbol of it is a snow leopard.
• What other interesting information did you learn?
• Novosibirsk is the third largest city after Moscow and St. Petersburg. In 1993 Novosibirsk celebrated its 100th anniversary and it's growing rate is so high, that they call the city Russian Chicago.
• I’m jealous you.  I want to visit the Siberian capital too!
