Конспект урока по английскому языку в 5 классе

Тема: What’s the weather like…?

Цели урока:

1) образовательные - создать условия для отработки навыков и умений в говорении, чтении с извлечением необходимой информации, восприятии речи на слух; актуализировать знания по теме «Погода»; расширить кругозор учащихся.

2) развивающие - развивать  коммуникативные навыки через разнообразные виды речевой деятельности (монологическая, диалогическая речь); развивать умение анализировать, сопоставлять, обобщать, делать выводы; создать условия для развития памяти, внимания, воображения; содействовать формированию  самостоятельной познавательной деятельности.

3) воспитательные - способствовать развитию культуры взаимоотношений при работе в парах, группах; содействовать формированию толерантности; содействовать развитию интереса  к изучению иностранного языка; повышать уровень мотивации на уроках через средства обучения.

Оборудование:

Доска, магнитофон, компьютер

Ход урока

1.Орг. момент

Teacher: Hello, boys and girls.

Students: Hello, Victoria Aleksandrovna.

Teacher: Glad to see you. / How are you?

Students: Glad to see you, too. / I’m fine./ Ok/ Not bad/Very well.

Teacher: Who’s absent today?

Students: … is absent/Everybody is here/Nobody.

Teacher: What date is it today?

S: It’s  ….

T: And what day is it?

S: It’s ….

T: What’s the weather like today?

T: Let’s recite a poem about weather. Remember about the sounds [w] and [   ] .

Weather

When the weather is wet

We mustn’t fret.

When the weather is cold

We mustn’t storm,

But be joyful together

Whatever the weather!

T: Look at the picture. The theme of our lesson is hidden in the puzzle. Let’s write the words to learn the main word. (На доске кроссворд с зашифрованным словом.)

T: Look at the slides and answer the questions “What’s the weather like?”.

2) проверка домашнего задания

T:  Your homework was to prepare short oral reports or to make a project about weather in different parts of the world. I know that some of you even prepared presentations.

  (Ученики рассказывают свои доклады  о погоде в разных странах, остальные слушают и заполняют таблицы с заданием, затем проверяем, ответы записываем на доске)

T: Other students have to listen to the reports and fill in the table with the correct information.

3) работа с диалогом

T:Now we'll talk about the weather in different cities of the world. Look at the slide, listen and repeat. (отработка правильного произношения названий городов)

S: London, Paris…

T: Look at the temperature diagram. Listen and repeat the words. (дети слушают и повторяют слова)

S: chilly, cool, warm…

T:  Look at International Weather Chart. Ask and answer the questions, as in the example. (на доске слайд с таблицей)

(сначала читаем пример, затем ученики составляют свои диалоги.)

S1:   What’s the weather like in Cairo today?

S2:   It’s warm and sunny.

S1:   What’s the temperature in Cairo today?

S2:   It’s 25° C.

T: Then, let’s sing a song about weather! (дети поют песню “What’s the weather…” , на экране видео)

T: Now open your books at page 74, ex 1. Read a definition from the dictionary.

S: Climate [΄klaımət] is the typical weather conditions of a particular place.

T: You're going to read  two short texts about two types of climate – Hot Desert Climate and Tundra Climate. Look at the slide and match two words to their definitions.

(на слайде два слова “тундра” и “пустыня”, дети их соединяют с определениями)

T: What characterizes tundra and hot desert climate ?

S 1 : In deserts it’s very hot and dry, there aren’t many plants.

S 2 : In tundra it’s cold and there aren’t any trees.

T: Listen and read to find out. (слушаем запись)

Text 1 Hot Desert Climate

Deserts are usually very hot all year round with temperatures over 40°C. They get very little rain and have very long dry periods. At night temperatures drop to below freezing. Only plants that hold in a lot of water can survive in hot desert climates.

Text 2 Tundra Climate

Cold weather and low temperatures characterize the tundra climate all year round. The winter season is long and hard. A short summer season exists. It lasts about 6 to 10 weeks and temperatures reach -1° C. The sun shines almost 24 hours a day during this season so people call the tundra “the land of the midnight sun”. During the long winter months it is dark most of the day and temperatures drop to -35° C . No plants can survive in the tundra.

This will help you understand the text:

survive = not to die

exist = to be real (на слайде)

T: Now read the text again and mark the sentences T (for tundra climate) and HD (for hot desert climate). (слайд)

T: Now we’re going to work in groups. I’ll give you cards with questions. Read them and try to find the correct answers. Be tolerant and tactful while discussing, please. Then choose a speaker who will answer.

What do tundra and desert climates have in common?  (слайд)

1. There is a lot of water in both places.
2. There aren’t many plants.
3. There are a lot of plants.

What’s the difference between tundra and desert climates? (слайд)

1. Different people live there.
2. There are different temperatures.
3. They have different seasons.

T: So, what did we discuss today?

S: We talked about weather in different parts of the world.

S 2: We talked about different climates.

T:  What is the climate?

T: O’k, guys, you worked hard today and I'll give you good marks for the lesson. Your homework is to prepare a short report about one of the climates or to make a presentation about climates in different parts of the world.
