Урок  “Countries and Customs”

( к учебнику ВерещагинойИ.Н.”English-5”для школ с углубленным изучением английского языка), учитель Порохина Т.Г.

Цели урока: Активизация страноведческой информации по теме “Countries and Customs”, повторение грамматики (Future Indefinite Tense).

Ход урока:

I. Организационный момент

-        Good morning, children. (Good morning, teacher.)

-        Take your places. How are you today? How is your mother? (/ am fine.
My mother (father, brother) is fine too.)

-        Is anybody absent today? (Nobody is absent today.)
II. Сообщение цели урока

-        Today we shall begin to learn the topic "So Many Countries, so Many
Customs" and have a talk about Russia, Britain and the USA and the main
cities, symbols and places of interest of these countries.

III. Активизация лексических навыков

-        Now it is time to practice the words on our topic. Open your books and
find ex. 1, p. 62 (p. 64). At first you will read the words in the table loudly
and quickly.

Ученики по очереди читают слова в рамочке.

3. Look through the words again for a minute and divide them into four col-
   umns. Your time is up. Read the category parts of the city (places of in-
   terest, places to work, money).

Ученики распределяют слова по категориям, а затем читают их вслух.

IV.        Актуализация страноведческого материала. (Прилагаются 5 презентаций по каждому городу)

We shall work in five groups now. Pretend you and your friend are going to visit some main cities in different countries. Remember and name at learn five places where you would like to take your friend.

65535. The first group - Moscow (Red Square, the Kremlin, the Boshoyi Theatre, the Tretyakov Art Gallery, the State Moscow University, the monument to Alexander Pushkin).
65536. The second group - London (St. Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum, Hide Park, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, the National Gallery, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey).
65537. The third group - Washington DC (the Capitol, the White House, the National Gallery of Art, the NASA Museum, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial).
65538. The fourth group - New York (the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, the Metropolitan Museum, the Bronx ZOO, New York Public Library, Columbia University, the United Nations Building, Fifth Avenue, skyscrapers).
65539. The fifth group - St. Petersburg (the Hermitage Palace, Nevskyi Prospect, the Russian Museum, the Neva River, the Square of Arts, Isaak Cathedral, the Summer Garden, the Winter Palace, the monument to Peter the Great in Dekabrists Square).

Ученики делятся на 5 групп: каждая группа вспоминает достопримечательности одного из городов ( используем презентации каждого из городов).

V.        Тренировка навыков монологической речи

Ex. 3, p. 63 (p. 64).

65540. Let's go over the material we discussed last year. Will you read the task
       of ex. 3, p. 63 (p. 64)? Can you answer the following questions? Let's
       work in a chain.

Учащиеся зачитывают вопросы и адресуют их какому-нибудь ученику из класса. Ученик, ответивший на вопрос, имеет право выбрать и задать вопрос следующему.

Ex. 4, p. 63 (p. 65-66).

~ I want you to look at the pictures of ex. 4, p. 63 (р. 65-66). Can you say in what countries these buildings and place are. Can you describe them?

Ученики называют достопримечательности по презентации и картинкам в учебнике, описывают их.

VI. Физкультминутка.

VII.        Тренировка  употребления Future Indefinite Tense в устной речи. (Прилагается презентация с грамматическим материалом)

65535. Today we shall remember the Future Indefinite Tense and the table in your textbooks on p. 65-66 (p. 67-68) will help us. What do you know about this tense? (Время Future Indefinite используется для описания действия в будущем, вспомогательный глагол shall  и will, слова-маркеры - tomorrow, next week, in a few days, the day after tomorrow и т.д.)

65535. Let's read and translate some sentences from the table.

Ученики зачитывают и переводят предложения из таблицы на c. 65-66 (c. 67-68).

-        Now look at the blackboard, please. You can see some word combina-
tions on it. Work in pairs and ask your partner what she/he will do next
week.

Запись на доске:

to play football

to wash up

to clean the carpet with the vacuum cleaner

to help your mother about the house

to visit your relatives

to go to the cinema (library, museum, etc.

to buy a new camera (bike, book, etc.)

Ученики работают в парах и задают друг другу вопросы в будущем времени, используя словосочетания с доски.

Ex. 8, p. 67 (p. 69).

65536. So I see you can ask the questions in the Future Indefinite Tense. Now
       you will find ex. 8, p. 67 (p. 69) and the task for you is to complete the
       text. You have two minutes to do the task. Then we shall check up it all
       together.

Ученики просматривают задание в течение 2 минут, а затем зачитывают текст вслух и отвечают на вопросы после текста.

VIII.        Проверка грамматических навыков в письменной речи

-        Will you work in two variants, please? You will make up and write some
questions to the sentences. Open your exercise-books, please, and write
down the date. The sentence for the first and second variants are on the
blackboard.

Первый вариант:

I shall go to the library tomorrow.

Who... ? What... ? Why...? When... ? With whom ... ? Where... ?

Второй вариант:

We shall visit out relatives next week.

Who ... ? What... ? Whom ... ? When... ? Why... ? Shall... or... ?

Ученики работают по двум вариантам письменно в тетрадях. Задание: составить специальные вопросы к данным предложениям. В конце урока учитель собирает тетради с данной работой на проверку

IX. Подведение итогов урока и объяснение домашнего задания

That brings us to the end. It's time to write down your homework: ex. 5, p. 30 in your Workbooks is to be written, you will remember some facts of the Russian, American and British history in ex. 6, p. 64-65 (p. 66-67) in your textbook. If you answer the questions of this exercise, you will be able to make up a story about the country and its history. Try and do your homework on your own.
