Ведущий 1- Good afternoon dear teachers and friends. We are happy to meet you here at our party devoted to Valentine`s Day.
Ведущий 2- You will have a chance to learn some facts about this holiday, watch a scene from Shakespeare`s “Romeo and Juliet” , listen to English songs and poems.
Ведущий 1- Robert Burn`s poem “O my Luve's like a red, red rose” is one of the most beautiful love poems. Listen to it please.

Ведущий 2- St. Valentine lived in Rome during the third century. At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor named Claudius. Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join. Many men just did not want to fight in wars. They did not want to leave their wives and families. This made Claudius furious. He thought that if men were not married, they would not mind joining the army. So Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages.

One night, they heard footsteps of soldiers. The couple he was marrying escaped in time. He himself was caught. He was thrown in jail and told that his punishment was death.
Ведущий 2- Many young people came to the jail to visit him. They threw flowers and notes up to his window. They wanted him to know that they, too, believed in love.
One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit Valentine in the cell. They used to sit and talk for hours. She helped him to keep his spirits up.
Ведущий 1 - She agreed that Valentine did the right thing by ignoring the Emperor and going ahead with the secret marriages. On the day Valentine was to die, he left his friend a little note thanking her for her friendship and loyalty. He signed it, "Love from your Valentine."
Ведущий 2- Speaking about love we can`t but remember “Romeo and Juliet”. It always associates with love.
Ведущий 1- So enjoy a scene from that masterpiece.

Ведущий-2 On Valentine’s Day we give presents to those whom we love. The most popular ones are cards. But there are also other gifts symbolizing this holiday.
Ведущий 1- Love symbols are great way in expressing your love. Other than heart shape, there are series of love symbols. Every civilization and country has its own types of love symbols and they carry significant meaning of their own. Thus, symbols can say a lot about your feelings and can convey your message to the special person of your life.
Ведущий 2- The Most Famous of Valentine Symbols Cupid has always played a role in the celebrations of love and lovers. He is known as a mischievous, winged child, whose arrows would pierce the hearts of his victims causing them to fall deeply in love.
Ведущий 1- It is the most common and most widely recognized symbol of love. Love blooms when two hearts meet. It's the pure magic of love that captivates hearts and love happens at first sight.
