КЛАССНЫЙ ЧАС - «ЭСТАФЕТА МЕЧТЫ»

MY FUTURE

Классный час проводится в 11-м классе при работе над темой “Му future profession”.

Т: Very soon you will finish school. I think that everybody have a dream. One dreams to become a teacher, other — a doctor and so on. There are a lot of different professions and all of them are very interesting and good. I know that some pupils are going to enter university but they dream to become an actor for example. They are afraid that it will be difficult to become an actor and decide to be an engineer. But all their life they are dreaming about the career of an actor. Let’s dream today and say what would you like to become in reality.

PI: I would like to become a photo model. But I have a small size, not very long legs, not very beautiful face, that’s why it’s only my dream.

P2, РЗ, P4 . . .

T: Most young people think they will have achieved their aims in life by the time they are thirty or forty. What will Alan and his friends have done by then? Use: I hope I’ll have ... I’ll probably have ... I expect I’ll have ... I’m sure I’ll have . . .

e.g. Alan: ... a great scientific discovery. I’m sure I’ll have made a great scientific discovery.

1. Betty:        I... several books, perhaps ever bestsellers.
2. Bob:        I... a medal for swimming in the Olympic Games.
3.  Dave:        I... countries all over the world.
4.  Eve:        I... a name for myself as a doctor.
5. Fred:        I... something for my country and will be famous.
6. George:        I. .. enough money to buy ...
7. Helen:        I... happily married for 10 years and will have two children.

T: Very good. I think everything is possible if you want and try very

much.

PI: But I think it’s not enough to dream. It’s necessary to have rich parents or relatives. Even better to have somebody famous in your family only in this case it will be possible for you to achieve something.

P2: I think you are not right. Let’s take as an example Arnold Schwarzenegger. People call him “the American Dream”.

PI: Do you know anything about him?

P2: Yes. Listen. Arnold Schwarzenegger, top Hollywood star, knows what he wants and knows how to get it. He’s now one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors. After a huge success of his film, “The Running Man”, everyone wants to produce his next movie. And he has married into America’s most famous political family. Not bad for a guy who arrived in the United States from Austria many years ago with nothing but a gym bag.

T: It’s a very good example. Do you know anything about his career? How did it all begin?

P2: As a teenager in a small village outside Graz, Austria, Arnold began lifting weights to train for the local soccer team. But body-building quickly became an obsession. He got up early to do curls, did sit-ups at lunch and raced to the gym after school. Soon he became Mr. Europe junior. Dubbed the Austrian Oak, Schwarzenegger eventually won the Mr. Universe title five times and professional Mr. Olympia title seven times. “I was ambitious,” he says. “There was no place to go but America.”

P3: Of course it’s very interesting. But I want to say some words about his Hollywood career. For Schwarzenegger, success came with a best seller called “Pumping Iron,” published in 1974 and a film documentary that came out two years later. In the film, Arnold described what pumping muscles actually feels like. “It’s like someone is blowing air into you”, he says. “It feels fantastic — I’m in heaven.”

T: Do you know that when Schwarzenegger moved on to Hollywood, he had three handicaps — his accent, his muscles and his jaw breaking name. He was taking TV and small movie roles and finally won over critics with his warmth and humour. He made his dream true!

P4: But it was in America. It’s not real for our life.

P5: You are wrong. I want to say some words about a famous model maker Igor Chapurin. He was born in Vitebsk region. His family is rather simple and big. After finishing nine classes he entered Vitebsk technological college. He studied hard: invented new dresses, new models. He was very serious with everything. Once he decided to take part in the competition of young talents in Moscow. He didn’t win but he got acquaintance with Vyacheslav Zaitsev. Later on while studying in Vitebsk Technological University he went again to Moscow and he won the first prise among young model makers. Now he works in Moscow and you can see him on TV very often. Many famous singers, actors are his clients. They want to wear clothes only from Igor Chapurin.

P6: Such a good tale.

T: It’s not a tale. It’s our life. He was not only a talented boy but he was a very hard working boy. Can you say the same thing about yourself?

P7: Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

T: Explain please this expression: “It’s necessary to have one drop of talent, but ocean of endeavour.”

T: I think if you have an ocean of endeavour all your dreams become true. I wish you luck in your life.
