Цели урока: формирование знаний о значении английского языка в жизни    человека.

Задачи: расширить знания школьников о роли английского языка в современном мире, обеспечить ознакомление с новым лексическим материалом по теме, развивать умения коллективной познавательно-поисковой деятельности, развивать умение делать предположения и обосновывать их средствами английского языка.

ХОД УРОКА.

1. Организационный момент.

 Good morning, friends! How are you? Sit down, please.

What date is it today? What day is it today? Do you want to speak English today?

So, let’s begin our lesson.

2. Фонетическая зарядка.

- Find the mistakes in the following words: (T – Cl)

         Lenguage

• Repeat the words after me. Read these words.(P1, P2, P3 …)

3. Речевая зарядка.

- Let’s do a chain from the word expressions:

You see that people in different countries speak English. You learn English at school. You listen to English words in everyday life. Look at these facts. Read and translate.

80% of all information in the worlds’ computers is in English.

20% of the world’s population speaks English.

75% of all international business letters are written in English

50% of companies communicate with each other in English.

4. Основная часть урока.

Our lesson today is devoted to the English language but we are going not only to speak English, we are going to speak about English. We try to answer the question why people and you speak English.

• Divide into 3 groups. Read the texts and say why these children learn English. You must fill in the table.

I’m from France. My name is Michael. I can speak English quite well. I started to learn English 8 years ago when I was only 5. My elder sister taught me some funny English songs and poems. Then at school I continued my studies.

My sister grew and married an Englishman. Now they live in London. I often visit them and my nephews. In Britain, I speak English with my relatives and friends. I can speak English fluently. But I have some problems with my grammar.

I learn English because I often visit Britain and I have a lot of friends there. English helps us overcome (преодолевать) our communication problems. Besides, I like to read British youth magazines. They are interesting.

My name is Hans. I’m from Germany. I learn English at school in Berlin. I can read English books and newspapers. But I have some problems with the listening and speaking English. I’m going to become a pilot. Every pilot should speak English very well. You know, sometimes English is called the language of the sky.

I really enjoy using my computer. It’s so interesting. I can chat with people from different countries on the Internet. I can find the information and new ideas on the Internet. To use the computer I have to read and write English quite well because nearly 80% of all the information in the world’s computers is in English.

I’m from Greece. My name is Janis. Many people from different countries come to Greece for holidays. They speak different languages. But most of them can speak English. So, if you want to make new friends you should speak English too.

I learn English at School and I can speak English quite well. My English friends say so.

I am interested in modern music. Most singers sing their songs in English. Most radio and TV programmes are in English. The most famous musical magazines are in English too. If you want to know the latest musical news you should learn English.

- Now we know why children study English. And what about you? Why do you study English?

- Let’s work in groups. We’ll try to make a diagram. Ask each other about the reasons of learning English. You can name 2-3 reasons. The word combinations help you answer the question why you study English.
