Межпредметная связь: культура

Тема Shopping

Цель: развитие умений смыслового  чтения 

Задачи: развить умения прогнозировать содержание текста по звукозаписи, иллюстрациям, актуализировать знания по теме «Покупки, магазины», развивать компенсаторную и социокультурную компетенции, вести разговор о том, как американцы проводят время в торговом центре

Время урока: 30 минут (фрагмент)

Оборудование:  

 1. SB Spotlight 8

 2. Text “Mall rats” from Across Cultures by Elizabeth Sharman

 3. CD с записью звуков торгово-развлекательного центра

 4. компьютерная презентация

Ход урока

Этап 1. Актуализация знаний, мотивация

Учитель показывает картинки людей с покупками из разных магазинов

T: Have a look at the pictures. What can you see in them? What do they have in common?

 предлагает написать свои ассоциации, связанные со словом «shops» .

T: Write down your associations with this word in the form of a cluster (A basket of ideas)

Этап 2. Целеполагание 

Учитель предлагает послушать звуки, посмотреть на картинки, предположить о чем будет текст, представить покупки в торговом центре, назвать плюсы и минусы посещения больших магазинов.

T: Listen to the sounds and imagine that you are at the shopping mall.  

Have a look at the pictures. What do you think the text will be about?

What are good or bad aspects of shopping at a mall?

  Формулирование тематики текста и его основной идеи на основе звукозаписи и иллюстраций, актуализация имеющихся знаний.

 Этап 3. Открытие новых знаний

Получение нового знания, формирование понимания и систематизация знаний, соотнесение известного с новым. Освоение  способов работы с информацией (предсказание, ознакомление, понимание).

 Перед работой с текстом, учитель знакомит с новыми словами при помощи картинок и надписей к ним. (Презентация).

I .Pre-reading

Для  введения и активизации новых слов выполняется упражнение. (Фронтальная работа)

Match the words with their definitions: 

1. The American name for a cinema.

2. A café that specializes in milk and ice cream products.

3. A place where you can go bowling.

4. An area where there are a lot of different restaurants and takeaways.

5. A place where you can relax, eg. in a pool, sauna or steam room.

6. A place where you can play on coin-operated games machines.

7. A place where you can skateboard.

II . Reading

T: Read the text and explain what its title «Mall rats» means:

 a.     Small   animals with a long tail at the shop.

 b.     People who spend all of their time at the shopping mall with friends.

 c.      Unpleasant people at the shop.

Mall rats by Elizabeth Sharman

1. TEXT A-*NANCY
   My friends and I go to the mall every day. It’s just somewhere to spend time with your friends. We usually just hang out or walk up and down looking in the clothes shops. We don’t often buy anything. We go to the mall at the weekends, too, and go to the movie theater there or hang out in the ice cream parlor. We always make sure we look good when we go to the mall in case there are any cute boys there!
   TEXT B-*THE KOWALSKIS
   We take the kids to the mall every weekend because they often have special activities there, like children’s shows and games. We also go to the bowling alley there, and the kids love eating at the food court -there’s so much choice: Mexican, Italian, Thai – and plenty of fast food, of course! We get the weekly groceries at the mall, too; sometimes Vanessa goes to the spa there. It’s great having everything under one roof.
   TEXT C-*TYLER
   My friends and I go to the mall about twice a week. We play the games in the arcade, and we like to check out the latest DVDs and computer games in the shops. You can even listen to the music or try out the new games in some shops. And we like to buy the latest sports clothes, too. Sometimes, if it’s raining at the weekend, we go to the indoor skate park at the mall, too....
   TEXT D-*CONNIE
   I go to the mall every Saturday. I don’t go for any particular reason, but I like to look in the designer shops and the cosmetics shops, and I usually end up buying something. Sometimes when I get it home I realize that I didn’t really want the thing I bought – or that it doesn’t go with anything else I’ve got! But I like to see what’s new, and there’s a really good atmosphere there.
   
   

Обучающиеся поясняют значение заголовка и отвечают на вопросы.

T: Explain the meaning of the title and answer two questions:

  a) Why are those people called rats?

  b) Do you think the meaning is positive or negative?

 Затем учитель предлагает повторно прочитать текст.

     Т:  Read the text again  and complete the table

 После чтения текста  обучающиеся  работают с таблицей в парах. Соседи оценивают работу  друг друга, проверяя потом заполненную таблицу по  образцу на экране (Презентация).

Этап 4. Закрепление пройденного материала (применение новых знаний)

 Post-reading

Используя записи из таблицы учитель предлагает рассказать о том, как проводят время и совершают покупки американцы  (работа в малых  группах, используется прием интенсивной речевой тренировки «интервью»).

 Т:Use your notes and tell your classmates about teenagers shopping in the mall. Answer their questions if necessary.
