Ход урока:

T.  Good morning, children! How are you?

P 1-12.  Nice! We are glad to see you!

T. Well, is it a nice day today?

P. Yes, it’s a nice day.

T. What’s the weather like today?

P. The weather is fine.

T. is it raining?

P. No, it is not raining.

T. What colour is the sky?

P. The sky is blue.

T. Are there clouds in the sky?

P. There are some clouds.

T. is it cool or warm?

P. It is cool.

T. What season is it now?

P. it is winter.

T. What date is it today?

P. Today it is December, 7 (seven).

T. What day of the week is it today?

P. Today it is Thursday.

T. How many lessons do you have on Thursday?

P. We usually have six lessons.

T . What lessons do you have?

P.  We have Russian, Literature, Geography, Physical Culture, Mathematics and English.

T. Which of the lessons do you like most of all?

P 1. I like Geography.

T. And you?

P2. I like Physical Culture.

T. What lesson are we having now?

P. We are having English.

T. And now think a little and guess the theme of our lesson.

P. I think we will speak about school subjects.

T. That’s right. The theme of our today’s lesson is « School subjects».

There are different subjects in schools. Let’s repeat them! Look at the screen!

T. Now, we will do such an exercise. You will listen to five little texts. On  the screen  you can see the names of six school subjects. One of them is extra.  You need match the school subject with the information about it. Here are the subjects:

A. Biology

B. Literature

C. Mathematics

D. Geography

E. Astronomy

F. Handy craft

Open your exercise-books, write the date ( December, 7), Classwork, the title “ Listening” and numbers from 1 (one) up to five (5).

You will listen to this information two times

  1. At this lesson we read about stars and planets. Learning this subject we get to know that “ Milky way” is not only chocolate. It is the name of our galaxy.
  2. It is a very interesting subject. we get to know about  funny and exotic animals and eatable or uneatable plants.
  3. At this lesson experts teach you to make any things by ourselves with our own hands.
  4. We study continents and oceans, lakes and mountains. It is a very useful subject for tourists and travelers.
  5. Thanks to this subject we can read and write, we know poems and fairy tales.

T. Have you written your answers? Put your pens on the desks and read us your answers.

T. Are you sure in your answers?  These are right answers. Check your results! Right answers are your marks for this task. Who has five (four, three, two) right answers?

Well, go on our lesson!

Which subject didn’t we use?

P. Mathematics.

T. Right. Do you know what Mathematics is?

P3. A school subject.

P4.  A science about numerals.

T. Both you and you are right. Mathematics is a science about numerals and forms of our world. It is one of the most difficult subjects but also it is very interesting.

And now let’s speak about your favorite school subjects! Do you like to study?

P. Yes.  We like it.

T. Do you have a favorite subject?

P5. Yes and even several ones.

T. Excellent. Look at the screen! There are four school subjects written there. These are:

1. History

2. English

3. Physical culture

4. Arts

You need to choose your favorite subject and work in groups.

In some minutes you must tell a story about it answering the questions on the screen/

Choose your subject and make groups! Take the with your partners!

This is the plan of your story:

  1. What is your favorite subject?
  2. How many times a week do you have it?
  3. Since what form or class have you been studying it?
  4. What is this subject about?
  5. Why do you like this subject?

In some minutes.

Group 1.

  1. Our favorite school subject is History.
  2. We have this subject two times a week.
  3. We have been studying History since this year.
  4. This school subject is about the past, about great people and famous events, about culture of different people.
  5. I like History because I am interested in the past.

Group 2.

  1. Our favorite school subject is English.
  2. We have this subject three  times a week.
  3. We have been studying History since class 2.
  4. This school subject can help us to chat with teenagers abroad, to get to know culture and traditions of other peoples.
  5. I like History because I like my English teacher.

Group 3.

  1. Our favorite school subject is Physical culture.
  2. We have this subject three times a week.
  3. We have been studying it since form 1.
  4. This subject is about physical activities. We do exercises, run, jump and play games at the lesson.
  5. I like PC because I like sport games.

Group 4.

  1. Our favorite school subject is Arts.
  2. We have this subject only one time a week.
  3. We have been studying it since class 1.
  4. Arts is a very interesting subject. we draw, paint and get to know much interesting about famous pictures and artists.
  5. We like this subject because we are fond of drawing. And one of us even  go in for painting in our local Art school .

Very  well. Let’s repeat the names of subjects again.

Well, your home work will be to write a story about a school subject – Life security (ОБЖ). You must write 5-7 sentences.

And now we have some minutes to the end of the lesson, and we can answer some questions:

  1. What do you usually do at the lesson? ( read, write, translate, draw)
  2. Where can you write down your home work? (diary)
  3. Where can you do your exercises? (exercise-books, workbooks, copybooks)
  4. What can you write with? ( pen, pencil, marker, felt-tip-pen)
  5. What can you draw  with? (paints, pencil)
  6. What helps you to draw straight lines?( ruler)
  7. Where do you read stories? (books, text-books)
  8. What helps you to do sums? (calculator)
  9. What helps you to clean drawing? (eraser)
  10. What do you use at your IT lesson? (computer)

Well, all these words are school supplies.
