Card № 1 The UK

 You are going to give a talk about the UK. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10- 12 sentences). Remember to say:

- which countries the UK consists of

- what the capitals of these countries are

- what the symbols of the countries are

- where people speak English

I’d like to tell you about the UK. It’s a very interesting question to discuss.

The UK is Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland.

The capital of England is London. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The capital of Wales is Cardiff and the capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast.

Every country has its own symbol. The symbol of England is a red rose. The symbol of Scotland is a thistle, in Wales – daffodil and in Northern Ireland is a shamrock.

People speak English in Britain, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. English is the first language for 322 million people

You are going to give a talk about your friend. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10- 12 sentences). Remember to say:

• what your friend looks like
• what your friend’s favourite subjects are
• what your friend’s interests are
• how you spend your free time together

We have common interests. We often spend free time together. We like playing/going/listening to …

Card № 3 My Free Time

You are going to give a talk about your free time. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10- 12 sentences). Remember to say:

-        when you have free time

-        what you like doing in your free time

-        how you spend your free time in different seasons

-        where you go at the weekends

I’m going to tell you about my free time. It’s a very interesting question to discuss.

I usually go to school five days a week. Saturday and Sunday are my days off.

In my free time I like doing different things. For example, I can go for a walk with my friends, play computer games or watch TV at home. I like reading interesting books in my spare time too.

When it is summer, I don`t use the computer much and have a great time outside. But in autumn, winter and spring I have to use computer more, because sometimes we can`t do our homework without using the Internet.

Also, I usually chat with my friends because I don`t see some of them for a long time. I like going to the park or cinema at the weekends.

I think it is very nice to have some free time and do what is really pleasant.

Card № 4. My school

You are going to give a talk about your school. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10- 12 sentences). Remember to say:

-what your school is like;

-where you can do sport;

-what other facilities you have;

- what your favourite subjects and school clubs are

I’m going to give a talk about my school. It’s a very interesting question to discuss.

Personally, I study at school number 47 in Kaliningrad. My school is a three-storied building with a lot of classrooms. The classrooms for the primary school are on the ground floor and the classrooms for the secondary school are on the first and second floors.

You know, our school has got two gyms. We have our PE lessons there and often stay after classes and play volleyball. There is also a big stadium near our school.

We have some other facilities here. There is a library and we often take books for reading. There is a canteen where we have lunch and buy snacks.

 As for me, I have got twelve subjects. My favourite school subject is …, because ….

Besides, we have after-school clubs: English Club, Sport Club, Reading Club, Biology Club and others. I go to… Club.

Card № 5. Animals and Pets

You are going to give a talk about animals and pets. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10- 12 sentences). Remember to say:

- what types of animals you know;

- what pets are the most popular in Russia;

- what pet you have or would like to have;

- how you take care of you pet;

There are a lot of animals on our planet. They can be wild and domestic. Wild animals are those animals which live in nature without people. Wolves, foxes, giraffes are wild animals. Domestic animals are animals which live with people. Cats, dogs, horses are domestic animals.

You know, practically every family in Russia has got a pet and the most popular are dogs and cats. Also, children love to take care of small animals such as hamsters, guinea pigs, goldfish and parrots. 

As for me, I have a pet too. (I’d like to have a pet. ) I have got a ...  . (I want to have a …) Its name is …  . My pet is very …. clever, friendly (funny).

I take care of my pet. I feed, wash, take to a vet if it needs. After lessons I walk my dog/ play with my pet. I love my pet very much.

- where London is situated on;

- why lots of tourists visit London every year;

- what the symbol of London is;

- what sights of London you would like to visit;

London is the capital of the United Kingdom. It is situated on the bank of the river Thames. It’s a very old city. The Romans built it in AD 43.

Millions of tourists visit London every year because it has lots of beautiful places and attractions. There are many historical buildings. The oldest castle in London is the Tower of London. It is a museum now.

You know, the symbol of London is Big Ben. It is a clock tower in the Houses of Parliament building. The most beautiful square is Trafalgar Square. There is the Nelson’s Column, which is 51 meters high.

As for me, I’d like to go to London because it is an interesting place to visit. There are a lot of museums and different sights and I’d like to see Buckingham Palace because the King lives there.
