“Canada and Russia: similarities and differences.” («Канада и Россия: сходства и различия») в 8 классе

Тип урока: урок систематизации и обобщения знаний и умений. 

Цель урока: систематизировать ключевые языковые компетенции по теме  “ Canada and Russia: similarities and differences ” и провести сравнение между двумя странами и выявить их сходства и различия

Ожидаемые результаты:

Предметные:

• совершенствование актуального словарного запаса по теме  «Путешествие»;
• развитие навыков речевой деятельности, диалогической и монологической речи;
• развитие навыков аудирования, письма и работы с текстом (просмотровое и поисковое чтение).

Личностные:

• развитие личностного самоопределения;
• мотивация учебно-познавательной деятельности;
• развитие личностных качеств и этических чувств (доброжелательность).

 Познавательные: развивать интеллектуальные способности, формировать мотивацию и готовность к коммуникации в изучении иностранного языка; закрепить умения классифицировать, обобщать; устанавливать смысловые соответствия при восприятии речи на слух.

Метапредметные:

• содействие установлению в сознании учеников устойчивых связей между накопленным и новым опытом познавательной и практической деятельности;
• формирование и развитие учебно-организационных умений и навыков;
• развитие способности к рефлексии.  

Используемые педагогические технологии и методы: интерактивное обучение, критическое мышление,   ИКТ, технология сотрудничества.

 Методы обучения: поисковый, словесный, наглядный, практический.

1. Организационный момент. Учитель приветствует учащихся, настраивает детей на работу; вводит в атмосферу иноязычной речи.
2. Постановка цели и задач урока. Мотивация учебной деятельности учащихся.

Hello, dear students!  I’m very happy to see you and welcome to our English lesson. I want you to warm up, repeat the actions and the words after me.

How often do you go travelling? To what places?
What makes a journey enjoyable?
Where would you go if you had a chance? Why?                                  

Look at the picture, what are we going to speak? (Countries Russia and Canada)  

What does the picture show?    We are to compare Canada and Russia. OK, Look at the other picture, you see the territories, are they alike? (largest ) and the other picture shows what?  The official languages, are they alike?  No, they are different.  What is the theme of the lesson?

Yes, theme of the lesson is   Canada and Russia: similarities and differences.   

What do you think we will do with this information (как думаете, что мы будем делать с этой информацией? (сравнивать две страны,  правильно, значит, мы на этом уроке будем  находить  сходства и различия этих двух стран)

      The aim: compare Canada and Russia

   Research problem: find similarities and differences specific to these countries.

It is a common knowledge that Canada is similar to Russia. But these two countries also have some differences. What do I think? I think that Canada is the best country neighbour for Russia.

You’ll be divided into two groups: one group is going to find out the similarities and the other one - differences.  I’d like you to continue your work in groups. Then present your works.

Учитель:  In conclusion, I would like to stress that Russia and Canada have both many similarities and differences. But these two countries can become the best friends and neighbours. I think we should develop our relations and make our level of life higher. This problem is very serious, and it needs further discussion. Tastes differ, and everyone can have his own opinion. But we all should keep in mind that, as the proverb says, friendship isn't a big thing – it's a million little things. The things, I’d like to add, that you can  understand each other much better.

Russia and Canada.

(-territory: two biggest countries in the world;

- both are rich in natural resources;

- both are washed by three oceans;

- some parts are beyond the Arctic Circle; - people of many nationalities live in both countries).

Canada and Russia
There are a lot of similarities between Russia and Canada. Firstly, the climate is similar. Both countries are situated in the northern hemisphere. So they have rather severe climate. Though the climate of Russia varies from the Arctic tundra to Sochi palms, and Canada has the same varied climate from the North Pole to the southern part of Ontario province. Russia is as rich in forests and minerals as Canada. Secondly, these countries have the same political organization: they both are federative. In Canada as in Russia every region or province is striving for greater autonomy. There are a lot of various nationalities. So the problems of national conflicts worry not only the Canadians but also the Russians. Thirdly, we are the biggest countries in the world with a lot of historical places, sights, and various places of interest. Both countries have a beautiful nature with high mountains, amazing valleys, and long rivers. So you can see that there are a lot of similarities, and that’s not all mentioned. Fourthly, Canada and Russia have sea and land borders with many other countries. Their common neighbour is the USA.

But these two countries have some differences too. Russia has a more severe climate than Canada. And it has more countries neighbours because of long land borders. In Canada and in Russia there are many fantastic holidays, which people love and celebrate, for example, in Russia the most important holiday is New Year. People invite their family or friends, cook a lot of food, and run fireworks. But in Canada this holiday is not so important. The Canadians celebrate it just for two days: the 1st and the 2nd of January. Besides, the Canadians have a different mentality. If your knowledge of the language is bad, the Canadians will explain nothing. If you’ve made a mistake, your partner will continue the dialogue paying no attention to this mistake. And the main difference is the level of life. In Canada it is higher than in Russia. I have already explained it. So you can see that there are also a lot of differences between our two countries.
