«English is a World Language»

1.Вступление

Welcome to our English lesson.Today’s lesson is about English-the language you study. We are going to speak why English has become a world language (or we can say an international language) How it spread all over the world , why we learn it and in what spheres of life it is us

• Do you like English?
• Why are you learning English? Do you find it interesting? Hard? Useful?
• How long have you been learning it?
• Can you say”I can speak good English”

Now look at the map and say in what countries English is  spoken as a mother tongue Language) and in what countries English is used as an official but not primary.

2.Работа с картой. Англоговорящие страны. Перечень.(Australia,the Bahamas,Canada ,The Republic of Ireland, Guyana, the Carrebean Islands(Jamaica,Barbados, Trinidad etc),New Zealand. The United Kingdom, the United States of America.

Краткая характеристика. Four hundred years ago some English people sailed to North America to live there and they brought the English language to this new country. After them came people from all countries of Europe. And they all learned English but they made it a little different from British English .In the USA now people speak American English. Very many words are the same as in American and in British English, but the American people do not speak English language in the same way as people  do in England .American English is different from British English but people quite easily understand each other.

If you look at Australia on the map of the world, you will see that it is to the south of the Equator. Australia is a far away country. It is the smallest continent and the largest island on the map. Australia is also an English-speaking country. In all the countries which lie to the south of the Equator, the seasons are not the same as they are in the countries north of the Equator. In Australia the hottest summer month is January, and the coldest winter month is June

New Zealand is not far from Australia, but it is a great distance from Britain.When it is the middle of the night in Britain,it is the middle of the next day  in NZ. The seasons in NZ are also different from what they are in UK.

English have always been progressive people.They took an active part in the exploration of new lands

David Livingstone was one of the pioneers of exploration in Africa.He made 3 great expeditions.He crossed Africa from the west to east.He explored rivers,lakes and large areas of land. In his expeditions he was helped by African people, who were very friendly to him. In Livingstone’s time African people were taken from their homes and families an sent  to America. They were sold and made slaves. The great explorer was against the slave trade and he fought against it.

The others great explorers are James Cook  and Francis Drake

English have always been progressive people.

They invented many things we use in our everyday’s life and we even don’t guess they were innovated in England for example) kettle, tooth brush, clinical thermometr,seed drill,
