Тема занятия: Happy New year

Тип урока: урок открытие новых знаний и активизация имеющихся знаний

Цель урока: Формирование коммуникативных и социокультурных компетенций.

Задачи урока:

Обучающая: совершенствование навыков монологической и диалогической речи, обогащение лексического запаса учащихся, актуализация грамматических компетенций; coздание условия для активизации в речи обучающихся изученного лексического и грамматического материала; познакомить с особенностями национальных традиций празднования Рождества и нового года в Великобритании;

 Развивающая: развитие навыков говорения, чтения, письма. Развитие способностей к обобщению, формулировке выводов; развивать творческие способности обучающихся; развивать навыки самостоятельной работы обучающихся при подготовке докладов на английском языке; развивать языковую, коммуникативную и социокультурную компетенции.

Воспитательная: повышение уровня эрудиции, воспитание умения слушать, анализировать, умения работать в команде; воспитывать уважительное отношение к традициям своей страны и других народов.

Формируемые УУД: 

Личностные: формировать положительное отношение к процессу познания, развивать навыки сотрудничества в разных ситуациях.

Коммуникативные: Уметь слушать своих одноклассников и учителя, реагировать на речь других.

Познавательные: Успешно осуществлять актуализацию новых лексических единиц, основываясь на учебную ситуацию и личный опыт, уметь осознанно строить речевое высказывание по образцу.

Регулятивные: Моделировать ситуации поведения в классе, участвовать в распределении ролей.

Ход урока

Teacher: Good morning. I’m glad to see you!

Today we are going to speak about a very famous winter holiday – New Year’s Day but when we speak about this day we can’t say anything about Christmas. Everyone knows that Christmas is very important to British people. But what do you know about these holidays? (Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя).

When is New Year’s Day celebrated in the United Kingdom and in Russia?

Where is New Year’s Day more popular in Great Britain or in Russia?

1. It’s time when is snowing, when all children do skating, skiing, make snowmen and play snowballs. (Winter)
2. We celebrate it on the first of January. (New Year)
3. He always comes in the night of New Year and brings presents to obedient boys and girls. (Father Frost/Santa Claus)
4. We decorate it when it is New Year with garlands, colorful balls and other toys. (New Year Tree).

Teacher: Now we are going to listen to several reports about New Year’s Day and Christmas in Great Britain.

Student 1: For most British families, this is the most important festival of the year. This is the day when many people are travelling home to be with their families on Christmas Day. If you try to catch a train on 24th December you may have difficulty in finding a seat.
   There are a lot of traditions connected with Christmas but the most important one is the giving of presents. Family members wrap up their gifts and leave them at the bottom of the Christmas tree to be "bound on Christmas morning.
   At some time on Christmas Day the family will sit down to a big turkey dinner followed by Christmas pudding.
   In the afternoon they may watch the Queen on the television as she delivers her traditional Christmas message to the United Kingdom and Commonwealth. Then they enjoy a piece of Christmas cake or eat a hot mince pie.
   On the Sunday before Christmas many churches hold a service where special hymns are sung. Sometimes singers can be heard on the streets as they collect money for charity.
   Most families decorate their houses with brightly-coloured paper or holly, and they usually have a Christmas tree in the corner of the room, glittering with coloured lights and decoration. 26th December is also a public holiday, called Boxing Day.
   This is the time to visit friends and relatives or be a spectator at one of the many sporting events.
   Everyone in Great Britain is waiting and enjoying this holiday very much! 

Student 2: New Year in United Kingdom is celebrated on January 1. This day was officially declared as New Year’s Day in 1752.

New Year is the most long-awaited holiday. Many people associate it with magic and gifts. People of all ages truly believe that in New Year their aims and wishes will come true.

New Year is an international holiday, but in every country it is celebrated in many different ways and each family has their own traditions.

It is commonly believed that New Year’s Day is less important in England than Christmas. It is true in the southern and eastern parts of the country. But the welcoming of the New Year is popular among younger people who prefer to spend Christmas with family, but New Year with friends. New Year’s parties go all night through.

The most famous places of festivities are Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square in London. Сrowds of people greet the New Year with the linked-arm. They sing of «Old Lang Syne» and shooting firecrackers. Unfortunately for all these midnight celebrators, January 1st is not a public holiday in England.

Teacher: Well done. And now let’s play the game “Associations”. You should remember as many as possible words connecting with the holidays of New Year and Christmas as you can. The team who can remember more words wins. Is it clear?

Teacher: Well, on holidays we usually congratulate our parents, relatives and friends. But how do we do it? What do we say? Do you know some congratulations in English? (Учащиеся называют поздравления, которые они знают, возможно, даже не связанные с Новым годом.)

                 We wish your days be filled with happiness and joy this year!-Мы желаем, чтобы Ваши дни в этом году были наполнены счастьем и весельем!

                 New Year-new beginning!-Новый Год-новое начало!

Teacher: Yes, we all like New Year and Christmas. We like to get congratulations, presents and greeting cards. Have you ever send New Year Cards? (Учащиеся отвечают) Let`s congratulate each other with the help of a New Year Card. Each team will make a card for the other team. You may use all poems and congratulations we mentioned today.

             Каждой команде выдается большой лист бумаги, карандаши, маркер, клей и всевозможные новогодние картинки. Пока учащиеся делают свои открытки, звучит новогодняя музыка(песни на английском языке ). После изготовления учащиеся показывают свои открытки и читают друг другу поздравления.

Teacher:   Well, our lesson is over. Today we have spoken a lot about New Year`s Day and Christmas, congratulated each other, listened to reports and made New Year Cards. And now I offer you to sing the famous New Year song «Happy New Year» which was sung by ABBA group.

        У учащихся есть слова подготовленной песни. Учитель включает музыку, и участники все вместе поют песню.
