Тема урока: «Extreme sports» (Экстремальные виды спорта)

Цель урока: совершенствовать знания учащихся по теме «Спорт».

Задачи урока:

Практические:отработка лексики, связанной с экстремальными видами спорта, расширение активной словарной лексики учащихся, совершенствование умений и навыков практического владения английским языком по данной теме в разных видах речевой деятельности, чтении, аудировании, письме.

Образовательные: Расширить филологический кругозор учащихся на основе новой лексики.

Воспитательные: повышение интереса учащихся к занятиям спортом, формировать терпимое отношение и уважение к мнениям другого человека, воспитание толерантного отношения к спорту.

Развивающие: развитие умений отвечать на вопросы, развивать у учащихся навыки чтения и аудирования с извлечением нужной информации, развивать умение работать самостоятельно и в парах.

Тип урока: комбинированный.

Формы организации познавательной деятельности учащихся: групповая, парная, фронтальная, индивидуальная.

Средства обучения: Учебник для 9 класса Starlight 9, рабочие листы, карточки с лексикой по теме, презентация Power Point, экран, ноутбук.

Ход урока

1. Орг.момент

T: Good morning students. I am glad to see you. Sit down, please. Well, I see that you’re in a good mood today. We have many guests today. So, don’t be shy! Let’s start our lesson!

2. Фонетическая разминка

T: Before we begin speaking I suggest you to train our tongues. Look at the screen, it is an English saying that will help you pronounce some sounds correctly and it will be the moto of our lesson today.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Let’s read it and pay attention to the sounds [w] and [ð]. Учащиеся читают предложение несколько раз, затем учитель стирает по одному слову, а учащиеся пытаются восстановить по памяти.

3. Речевая разминка

T: Good of you! So before you guess the topic of our lesson, answer my questions please.

-Do you have PE lessons?

- How many PE lessons do you have per week?

- What do you do at your PE lessons?

-Do you go in for sport?

-What kind of sports are you fond of?

-What’s your favourite sport?

-Do you prefer to watch sports or to take part in sport?

-Are there good sportsmen among your classmates?

-Why do people go in for sport?

4.Постановка темы и учебно-познавательные задачи

T: I want you to watch a very short episode and say what we’re going to discuss at the lesson today.

I’d like you to predict the subject of our discussion today.

Ps: We are going to talk about sport.

(Демонстрация  1-го видеосюжета об экстремальных видах спорта (40 секунд))

T: So, what sports will we discuss today?

Ps: Extreme sports. 

T: Yes, you are right! Well, today we’re going to take a look at extreme sports. How will we do it?

Ps: We are going to speak, listen to, read, to write… (задачи урока на слайде).

5.Основной этап

1. T: What extreme sports do you know?

I have given you some worksheets. Let’s start with task 1. Work in pairs. You need to match the pictures to the words. Draw lines, please.

Have you ever heard about white water rafting and parkour? Let’s learn more about these sports. Now we are going to watch a video and after that I’d like you to work in pairs and complete the worksheets based on the following episode.

Учащиеся смотрят видео-ролик (4 мин), затем в парах выполняют задания 2 и 3.

2.Can you give the definition to the word “extreme”.

Extreme describes activity that is very dangerous.

-You are right. Let’s read the definition.

3. Now, dear students open your books at page 38. Ex.1.

Here you are given list of sports. Listen to the names of them and tell me which of them are not extreme sports.

 I’d like to divide you into three groups. The first group will find the names of the sports that are connected to water, the second group will find the names of extreme sports connected with air and the third group with land.

4.Guess Game. Продолжается работа в группах. Один представитель группы читает определение экстремального вида спорта, другие команды угадывают.

Extreme sports

The number of people chasing for danger and extreme sport is on the increase nowadays. However, what do we mean while talking about ‘extreme sports’?

The phrase ‘extreme sports’ appeared in 1995 when the American TV sports network organized the first Extreme Games, which are now known as X Games. Extreme sports have often been characterized as ‘alternative sports’ as they are considered to be different from more traditional sports. However, many extreme sports are in fact new versions of older ones.

So, what makes extreme sports really ‘extreme’? The key word is risk – they all share an element of danger usually combined with acrobatic stunts. All these activities often involve speed, height, a high level of physical exertion and highly specialized gear.

What makes people risk their lives? Many of them get bored with studies and try to find a perfect escape. For others extreme sport is a great opportunity to make friends who share the same passion. It is also a way of expressing yourself through action. Once you are in, you are in for life.
