Сценарий вечера, посвященного Дню Святого Валентина

Dear boys and girls, dear guests, it is lovely to meet you here at St. Valentine’s party. On the 14th of February people celebrate a beautiful holiday. Both children and adults like it. It is St. Valentine day, the most popular holiday in the UK, Europe and Russia. There are a lot of traditions, customs, games and puzzles on this day.

St. Valentine’s day is one of the best holidays which young and old people like. It’s a day of sweethearts. It is celebrated on February 14. It’s not a legal or national holiday. Banks and offices do not close but it is a little festival for persons of all ages.

A “Valentine” may mean a special greeting card with a little poem or a special present. The greeting cards are usually coloured, trimmed with lace paper, bows, ribbons and have pictures of hearts. People who get more “ Valentines” feel very happy. Flowers and candy are favourite presents which sweethearts send each other. Valentine candy is packed in red, heart-shaped boxes and sold for this day. It’s a favourite day for parties, especially by young people. The hosts trim the hall with red and white streamers and hearts.

St. Valentine’s day has roots in several legends.

One legend tells us that Valentine was a Christian priest in Roman empire. When the Roman emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying because he felt that marriage made men to stay home instead of fighting wars. The kindly priest, seeing the love of young couples, married some secretly. But he was discovered and condemned to death. Even in prison Valentine showed his love to everyone. His jailei had a daughter, who was blind. And by a miracle, Valentine restored her sight. Just before his death, on the 14th of February he sent her a farewc 11 message signed “From your Valentine”.

When Christianity became the religion of Rome, this day was chang id to St. Valentine’s day in honour of the Saint who gave his life to help lovers.

Let me take you back to the 1 st century when the Roman Emperor Claudius II ruled Great Britain. (Из-за сцены слышится голос. Свет выключается.) ‘This is the legend of how St. Valentine’s Day began’. Cцена 1. Выходит девушка – дочь начальника тюрьмы. Она слепая. The girl: I am the Jailer’s daughter. I am blind. Why? Why am I so unhappy? I think the world is beautiful. I want to see the light. I want to see the flowers, the rivers, the birds. I want to see how my father looks like. (crying) The Jailer: Don’t cry, my daughter! I love you. You are my happiness. I will always be next to you. Сцена 2. The priest: I am the priest. My name is Valentine. The Roman Emperor Claudius II wants more soldiers for his army. He made a law against marrying because he thinks that young men don’t want to go to the army because of their families. I can’t agree with Emperor’s decision. Lots of couples are in love and I decide to marry them secretly. (Выходят юноша и девушка, падают на колени и просят священника совершить обряд бракосочетания) -My daughter! My son! Do you love each other? Are you ready to live together? (Пара отвечает «Yes, of course») I declare you – husband and wife. (Звучит марш Мендельсона. Врывается стража.) Soldiers: Priest! You have been discovered and condemned to death. To prison! To the Tower! Сцена 3. Тюрьма. Священник сидит на полу. Входят тюремщик с дочерью. The priest: What a beautiful girl! She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. The Jailer: This is my daughter. She is blind. Nobody can help her. The priest: I think I can help her by working a miracle. (Читает молитву, девушка показывает, что ей вернулось зрение) The girl: I can see the light. I can see you. Thank you, Valentine! (Уходит) The priest: Unfortunately, tomorrow on the 14 th of February, I will have to die. But I am not scared. I want to tell everybody on earth ‘I love you. I am your Valentine.’ (пишет записку и отдает ее тюремщику). Give it to your daughter, please. On the 14 th of February Valentine was beheaded. Although this story is sad people celebrate St.Valentine's Day as a special day for love and romance.

We need 4 girls and 4 boys. Introduce yourselves, please. (Пары представляются) And now you know each other and we can know what сouple will be the best. You will take part in our St. Valentine’s competitions. You will get a paper heart if you win a competition. The couple who will have more hearts will be “Our school’s ideal couple’.

Во время выполнения задания учитель проводит игру со зрителями. - The custom of sending valentine cards started in the middle ages. The oldest valentine was made in 1415. (Традиция послания «Валентинок» началась в средние века. Самая старая датирована 1415 годом.) - Look at the next slide. It is an example of Valentine card. Read the examples of the Valentine messages and translate them.  Конкурс 6. Давайте проверим, как хорошо вы знаете свою пару. Игра «Как хорошо вы знаете друг друга?» Учитель задает участникам вопросы. Когда он спрашивает у парня, девушка не должна слышать его ответ (можно использовать наушники). Потом учитель задает этот же вопрос девушке. Если ответы совпадают, пара зарабатывает сердечко. Here is an extract from the story by Ogden Nash “All you had to do was to take a sheet of paper and draw a heart with an arrow through it carrying the words “I love you” and sign it “Guess you” and shove it under the front door of your only beloved and ring the bell and run like a rabbit” Could you dramatize it?
