1) He was born in Shilovo district in the 13-th century. He became a military governor (voivode) and was a rich boyar in Ryazan. In December 1237 khan Baty burned Old Ryazan. Our hero with his soldiers followed the Tatar army and fought against it. He was a real patriot, very brave and clever. People think that he was the first partisan of the Russian land. His monument is not far from school 7 in front of the Central Post office.

2) He was born in Rybnoe district in Konstantinovo village, on the high bank of the Oka river. He loved nature and at the age of 9 began to write poems. He is a world-known Russian poet. The monument was established on the 2-d of October, 1975 opposite the Ryazan Kremlin. It is situated on the bank of the river Trubezsh.

3) He was the Prince of the Ryazan land. He was a clever, brave and talented leader. He founded the monastery in Solotcha. The author of the monument is Zurab Tseriteli. The monument is situated in Sobornaya square.

4) He was born in Ryazan region. During World War II he fought against fascist Germany not only in Russia but also was a partisan in Italy. He is a hero of the Soviet Union and the national hero of Italy. The monument of this hero is located in Gagarin Street.

5) He was born in Ryazan in 1849. He was a Great Russian physiologist and later became the first Russian Nobel laureate. There is a House Museum of this famous Ryazan man. You can see his monument in front of the Concert Hall. It was established in 1949.

6) He was born in St Petersburg in a family of a professional military man. He got good education in France and knew several foreign languages. At the age of 18 he joined the army. He was loved by his soldiers and called him “the White General”. He was a hero of the Russian-Turkish war and a national hero of Bulgaria. The monument is situated in Dashkovo-Pesochnya District. It was established in 1995.

7) He was born in Izshevskoye village in Ryazan region. In his childhood he was badly ill, became deaf and couldn’t go to school. He read a lot and became a teacher. He was interested in space and space ship-building. He was a founder of the Russian rocket-building. He is a Russian scientist and inventor. You can see his monument at the Drama theatre.
