Учитель: Good morning. I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please. Are you good at puzzles?

There are some pieces on your desk. Collect them together and you will find out the theme of our lesson.

Учитель: Have you ever heard about this city?

Учитель: Today we are going to learn about this city and you will try on some professions. Please, look at the screen.

Ryazan is a city situated on the Oka river southeast of Moscow. It was founded in 1095. This city has a rich story. Ryazan was the first Russian city attacked by the Mongol Horde. In 1380 there was the famous Kulikov Battle which was the first victory of the Russian force. Ryazan is famous for its native people. They are Sergey Esenin, Saltykov-Shedrin, Tsialkovskiy, Michurin, Pavlov, Skobelev, Aleksandrov.

Ryazan is an attractive place for tourists. There are a lot of monuments of history and culture there. The Ryazan Kremlin is the symbol of this town. The most popular places of interest are the Drama Theatre, the Puppet theatre, the Ryazan state circus, the monument to EvpatiyKolovrat, to the Duke Oleg, the Ryazan Oblast State Art Museum.

Учитель:Imagine,you want to see a new city. Who will you ask to help you? Is there a specialist whose job is to show people places of interest and tell interesting things about cities?

Ученики: Называют свои варианты(родителей, друзей, интернет, гидов, экскурсоводов). Гиды.

Учитель: Ok. What is the English for “гид”?

Ученики: A guide.

Учитель: Very good. Would you like to be guides?

Ученики: Yes, we would.

Ученики: You have such an opportunity. You will try to be guides today.

Учитель:And at first tell me ,please. What are the traits of a guide?

Ученикиназываютсвоиварианты(clever, smart, handsome, sociable).

Учитель:Look at the screen, please. Let’s read  the traits of a good guide and match with the Russian equivalents.

Учитель: Read the following phrases, translate them into Russian and say whether you agree or not.

1. A guide should have a good memory.
2. A guide has to have a sense of humor.
3. A guide must love his/her job and his/her country.
4. A guide shouldn’t know the location of the monuments.
5. A guide must know how to communicate with tourists.

Учитель: And now imagineyou are in front of the Ryazan Circus. You have to get to the Ryazan Kremlin. What will you do?

Ученики: Go ahead, then turn to right, go ahead and then turn to the right and move forward. The Kremlin will be just in front of you.

Учитель: Very good. Now you will have to work in groups. Each group has to explain how to get to the certain place of interest.

Group 1: Your destination place is the Drama Theatre.

Group 2: Your destination point is The Ryazan Circus.

Group 3: Your destination place is the Ryazan State Oblast Art Museum.

(Учитель раздает карты, ученики работают с картами).

Учитель: Ok, You can explain the way very well. And one more point of the guide’s work is to tell about the places of interest. You’ll go on working in groups. Each group has to describe your place of interest, These tips will help you.Are you good at making  presentations? Try to make a slide show. There are photos on the desktops of your laptops, they’ll help you.
