Ход урока.

1. Организационный момент. Приветствие.

Учитель английского языка: Glad to meet you, dear boys and girls! We are very happy to see you at our lesson.

2. Презентация темы и задач, обсуждение цитаты. Речевая разминка.

3. Знакомство с Соединённым Королевством.

Приветствие: Good morning, children! Who is on duty today?

Today we’re going to have an unusual lesson. Do you like travelling? Today we will make a tour around Great Britain .

St. Augustine once said: ’The world is a book and those who don’t travel, read only one page’. (СЛАЙД 2)

P1: I quite agree with this statement, because the world is big and when you travel you learn a lot of interesting and amazing things.

P2: I think when you meet people from other countries you have a chance to talk with them about cities and countries where they live.

P3: To my mind travelling is an exciting thing.

P4: As far as I understand, if we travel we learn much about the world and understand the world and people better.

P5: And it seems to me, we can improve our English, if we visit an English speaking country.

The world is a book and the UK is its wonderful page.

Dear friends, today we are going to talk about Great Britain. Today we should remember everything we know about this country.

- The official name of the country we usually call “England” is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the UK. The UK consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

England is the largest and the  richest country of Great Britain. The capital of England is London. Scotland is the country in the north of Great Britain. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. Wales is the country in the west of Great Britain. Cardiff was chosen as the capital of Wales. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast

Great Britain is an __________. (island). Great Britain is in the ___________ (west) of Europe. It stretches from the _____ (north) to the __________(south).

This is Great Britain. It is an island. What can we see around the island? Water, seas and ocean.

This is the Antlantic ocean. It washes Great Britain from the west. This is the North sea. It washes Great Britain from the east. And this is the Channel. It washes Great Britain from the south.

2) Ребята, мы нашли где располагается Великобритания на карте. Но если вы посмотрите внимательно, то увидите, что Великобритания это всего лишь один остров из группы островов, которые называются Британскими островами. Look, this is a map again. What is the UK? (it’s the official name of the country).(СЛАЙД 6)

- How many parts does the UK consist of? (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)

The capital of the UK is London.

This is the Union Jack, the flag of the UK. It consists of three flags: England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. What colour are they? The flag of Wales is not in the Union Jack.

- England – red rose. Символом Англии является роза- красная роза. 
Когда-то очень давно в Британии жили два герцога. У одного из них символом рода была красная роза (алая роза) , у второго белая. Герцоги воевали между собой за право быть королем страны и победил тот герцог, символом которого была красная роза, и, став королем, он сделал этот цветок символом всей страны. А этот период вошёл в историю под названием «Война алой и белой розы» .

- Scotland – thistle Существует легенда: в XIII викинги высадились на берегу Шотландии с целью грабежа и захвата территории. Шотландцы собрали свое войско, чтобы дать отпор врагам. Войско шотландцев было очень уставшим после долгого пути. Они разбили лагерь, не ожидая начала сражения раньше утра следующего дня. 
Но викинги были очень близко и заметили, что в лагере шотландцев не было часовых. Они перешли реку Тей, надеясь захватить шотландцев внезапно, а чтобы их шаги не услышали, викинги сняли обувь и крались почти бесшумно. Но один из викингов наступил на чертополох, внезапная и резкая боль заставила его закричать. Этот крик разбудил шотландцев, которые победили в честном бою. В благодарность за помощь, которую оказал им чертополох, шотландцы выбрали это растение своей национальной эмблемой. 
Кроме того, шотландцы решили, что их характер очень схож с «природой» чертополоха. Что они такие же неприступные, гордые и неприхотливые.

- Wales – daffodil. Жители Уэльса убеждены, что желтые нарциссы, ранние весенние цветы, распускаются специально к празднику их любимого святого Давида, покровителя Уэльса, который отмечается 1 марта. Поэтому они считают символом Уэльса этот цветок. В Уэльсе можно встретить целые поля нарциссов.

- Northern Ireland – shamrock.Легенда повествует, что святой- покровитель Ирландии Патрик использовал три листа клевера на одном стебле для объяснения смысла святой Троицы - листья изображали Бога-отца, Бога-сына и Бога-Духа святого. А древние кельты считали клевер лучшей защитой от сил зла и колдовства.
