Teacher: You are going to listen to an extract from famous Sheakspeare’s plays and you’ll have to guess the name of the play they belong to.
To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep; No more; and by a sleep to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, Must give us pause: there's the respect That makes calamity of so long life... |
It is my lady! O, it is my love! O that she knew she were! She speaks, yet she says nothing; what of that? Her eye discourses, I will answer it. I am too bold, 'tis not to me she speaks. Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, Having some business, do entreat her eyes To twinkle in their spheres till they return. What if her eyes were there, they in her head? The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars, As daylight doth a lamp; her [eyes] in heaven Would through the airy region stream so bright That birds would sing and think it were not night. See how she leans her cheek upon her hand! O that I were a glove upon that hand, That I might touch that cheek! |

IX. Reflection of the Lesson
Teacher: Shakespeare is without a doubt the most famous British poet and playwright that has ever lived.
Shakespeare played a huge role as part of the history of English Literature. He is a VIP in British culture. He is an icon of English Literature.
He is inspirational. We can find references to his work all the time. He has influenced not only other literary giants such as John Keats, Milton and Dickens but also how fiction and drama is approached. According to Jill Levinson ‘Romeo and Juliet’ was the first time romance had been used as a context for tragedy.
Dear friends, thank you for the lesson. You have learnt a lot of things about Shakespeare’s family, about his native town, about his place and his sonnets. You have seen the film “”.
