Ход урока:

1.Организационный момент

Teacher: Hello, dear children.

Pupils: Hello, teacher.

2. Фонетическая зарядка

T: Dear children, before starting the main part of the lesson let’s do some phonetic exercise. There are words written in transcription on the blackboard. Our task is to read them and to write them in the copybooks.

Дети сначала повторяют слова за учителем, затем читают сами, после чего записывают в тетрадь следующие слова: holiday, scarecrow, pancake, celebrate, snowball, sleigh riding, horse riding.

3.Речевая разминка

T: Right.. Next comes a little conversation. Answer my questions, please. Do you like pancakes? Can you cook them? How many pancakes can you eat at once? Now it’s your turn to ask me questions. (The children are asking questions the teacher is answering them.)

4.Сообщение темы урока

T: Great. Now we’ve come up the main part of the lesson.

Dear teachers, guests, our today’s lesson is devoted to one of our favourite holidays – Maslenitsa. And we name it “So many countries so many traditions”. Besides speaking, asking and answering questions, reading and writing, will see some “unusual things” too, my colleagues and I have prepared for you.

 Dear children, tell me please, what date is it today?

P: Today is March 10 and the Maslenitsa week has begun.

T: You are right. Look at the blackboard. There is a saying: “Love and keep your traditions, learn and respect others». Who can translate this? Please, Dasha.

Dasha: Люби и сохрани свои традиции, изучай и уважай традиции других.

T: And it’s true. When you know your own traditions, you can respect others’. Yelena Nikolayevna, our Art teacher, has prepared a little narrative about the picture, you can see on the blackboard. It’s our first “surprise” because for the first time you will hear her sound English. But before listening let’s do some vocabulary exercises.

6. Рассказ учителя ИЗО о картине Б. Кустодиева «Масленица» Слайд 2,3

Dear children, look at the blackboard. Here you can see a very beautiful reproduction of the Kustodiev’s picture on today’s lesson theme –Maslenitsa. Kustodiev was a famous Russian artist. He lived in the 19th century. In this picture we see how people in old times celebrated Maslenitsa.  Look how happy they are. They are riding their horses and sleighs, the children are sliding down the hill and playing snowballs. Everything is so colorful and bright. In the far distance another group of people are singing and dancing. The birds are flying back from the south, as it is the end of winter and the beginning of spring. In the second picture we see how the skomorokh is going to burn the doll made of straw. I have finished and happy Maslenitsa to you.

T: Thank you so much for such an interesting narrative, Yelena Nokolayevna.

Now dear children, we want to listen to your retellings about Maslenitsa.

7. Рассказы детей о масленице Слайды 4,5,6

К доске выходят 5 учеников в национальных костюмах и рассказывают о масленице, что сопровождается показом разных фото на экране, в том числе фото сделанные детьми во время празднования масленицы в школе.

Student 1.As you know, each country has its own traditions. Russia is rich in traditions too. Every year lots of tourists visit Russia to watch and take part in traditional Russian holidays. One of them is Maslenitsa, which lasts for a week to say goodbye to winter. 

Student 2.  During this rally joyful holiday people celebrate spring coming. In old times people usually cooked pancakes, came together in the village, sang merry songs and danced. Of course, the most important figure was the doll made of straw. It was the scarecrow of winter.  It was dressed in a caftan, a belt, a shawl on its head; its feet were in laptas.

Student 3.Traditionally, it was shown to all villagers on Sunday and then burnt down on the fire. Lots of people came around the fire. They sang songs and danced, children shouted: “Goodbye Maslenitsa, come again next year”.

Student 4. Also it was a favorite time for children. They used to go from house to house and asked for some treat. If they weren’t given enough they shouted: “You are bad pancakes too long and tasteless”.

Что означает «Паршивые блины по аршину длины».

Student5. I especially like this holiday when we celebrate it in our school. I can rally feel the festive atmosphere and imagine how people were happy celebrating this holiday because they didn’t have any TV, computers or other gadgets to entertain themselves. It was amazing! Also I like the funny performances acted by our school drama club actors.

Student 3.I like this holiday too. Every time I write my wish on a piece of paper and burn with the scarecrow. But it never comes true.

Student 4.May I ask what it is about?

Student 3.Of course, you can, to get only excellent marks.

Student 4.It will never come true, you write and burn a good thing. I think next time you should ask for “not to get bad marks” and burn it away.

Student 3.You’re right.  Next time I’ll try this way.

8.Лирическая пауза

T: My dear children, I’m very glad you know so much about this holiday. Now another “surprise” prepared by our Music teacher Rosa Sergeyevna.

I’ll give you lyrics of the very funny and merry song and by the accompaniment of Rosa Sergeyevna we’ll sing this lovely song on Maslenitsa. Dear guests, join us, please. Слайд 7

9. Подведение итогов и выставления оценок

T: Дорогие дети, любите ваши праздники, они история каждого народа. Все за урок получают высокие баллы: «4» и «5».
Ну а теперь маленький сюрприз от меня – я испекла блинов, как в песне поется «Сотен пять». Угощайтесь!
