РОЛЕВАЯ ИГРА «Buying a house»

по теме « Description of a Place»

из УМК New Opportunities

Upper-Intermediate

(10 класс)

Общие сведения:

Ролевая игра «Buying a house» рассчитана на учащихся, успешно овладевших пройденным материалом.

Уровень учащихся – Upper Intermediate (по УМК New Opportunities). Проведение игры возможно и на более низких уровнях владения языком.

Последние несколько разделов модуля 3 «Style» учебника посвящены описанию домов и комнат (в эту тему переходят от описания людей). Данная ролевая игра очень логично вписывается в тему.

Игра рассчитана на  два с половиной урока: половина, чтоб подготовить учащихся и один спаренный урок для проведения непосредственно игры.

Цель: развитие умений диалогической речи.

Задачи:

1)  Практическая: способствовать развитию умений диалогической речи, используя изученный материал

2) Образовательная: развитие филологического кругозора, фоновые знания.

3) Развивающая: развитие внимания, воображения, умения работать в паре.

4) Воспитательная: развитие навыков формального общения.

Материалы:

доска

Ролевые карточки

Компьютерная презентация/ распечатки слайдов для удобства риэлторов.

Лексические единицы:

Realtor

(real) estate agency

конструкции such lovely, such as, too big, so that, a lot bigger, as big as, big enough.

Ход  игры.

1. Подготовительный этап

На данном этапе вводятся и повторяются стандартные фразы:

• приветствие (официальное, неофициальное) (Hello, Good ....., Can I help you?.. )
• вежливый отказ (I'm afraid I disagree, I'm not so sure about that...)
• выражение согласия (You have a point there, I was just going to say that, That's exactly how I feel.. )
• обсуждение встречи (Do you mind… Is that all right with you?
• выяснение деталей (Would you like... ? What do you mean by ...? What does ...mean? Could you give some more details, please? Could you explain that in more detail?)

Учитель просит учащихся вспомнить определенные реплики: «How can we greet a person?», etc. Учащиеся называют варианты, учитель записывает их на доске, учащиеся – в тетрадях.

Далее в парах учащиеся составляют минидиалоги «respond to the phrase/to the situation».

2. Подготовительный этап 2

Речевая зарядка = введение к игре.

T Have you ever wanted to move from here to... anywhere?

P: ….

T: What is your desirable place to live?

P:….

T: And what kind of accomodation would you like to have there? (a cottage, a villa, a house, a mansion, etc.)

P:….

T: Imagine it and tell us several words about your imaginary accomodation. Its location, size and so on.

Учащиеся описывают, используя лексику предыдущего урока (они описывали дома и квартиры по картинке).

T: And what do you think of Cyprus as a place of living? (на фото – панорама Кипра)

Anyway, now we’re going to play a game. Right now right here we’re going to sell and to buy several houses/flats right on Cyprus. Prepare your money, don’t miss the opportunity.

You’re going to have different parts.

BTW, how do we call people who sell real estate – houses, flats? (Realtors).

So we’ll have several customers and several realtors. Who is who? Let’s see.

Here’re the roles.

Учитель раздает карточки – произвольно. Учащиеся смотрят свои карточки.

T: If there’s a star – you need to find your partner.

Примечание: в классе, где проводилась эта ролевая игра, ученики привыкли к отсутствию русского языка на уроке и ролевым играм. Увидев звездочку, они самостоятельно зачитывают свою роль вслух, ориентируются, находят своего партнера и пересаживаются. Эта операция заняла около 30 сек.

Вместо этого для большей организованности процесса можно проставить на карточках номера с указанием «student A», “student B”.

3. Ролевая игра.

T: Now discuss the situation with your partner. If you’re a customer, think of what exactly you want to buy. Don’t forget that you’re parents... or a businessman, whatever. Think of what you need and can afford in your situation. Make notes.

Учащиеся самостоятельно додумывают ситуации, с удовольствием дополняя их деталями. В это время учитель разъясняет риэлторам их работу.

T: Realtors, here is the task for you. These are the houses we have for today. You work alltogether, but each of you is to sell at least 2 houses.

I recommend you to work in shifts: one of you works, the other hepls, then change. Of course, you can offer several houses. All the houses are in the presentation, so you can have a look at it and show it to your clients.

Пока риэлторы знакомятся с домами, учитель и учащиеся обсуждает характеры игровых персонажей.

T: Customers, let’s discuss your prefernces. What do you want from your new accomodation? Introduce  yourself and describe it as you see it.

P: So we’re a family with 4 children. We need a new house. It must be big enough for us. We’d like to have it near the sea, but not far from a big city with schools and shops, ..... etc.

Персонажи и предпочтения обсуждены, риэлторы готовы.

T: Customers, you’re going to buy a house. But don’t buy it immediately. Take your time to think about it after the conversation with realtors. Discuss it properly with your partner, think of it... And only after that get yout credit cards.

Учащиеся по очереди (в одиночку или парами, в зависимости от роли) подходят к риэлторам, рассказывают о свих предпочтениях, риэлторы предлагают им дома.

После всех диалогов  подводятся итоги.

T: So who’s decided to spend his money on the offer? Why? And who wants to find another agency? Why?

What can you recommend to our realtors to improve their work?

What was the most difficult in your realtor’s experience?

Примерная игровая ситуация: realtor (R), wife (W), husband (H)

R: Good afternon! Can I help you?

H: Good afternon. We’d like to find a new house for our family.

R: That’s nice.  Could you give some more details, please?

W: Sure. We’re a family with 4 children. So, you see, our new house needs to be big enough for us. We’d like to have it near the sea, but not far from a big city with schools and shops. It’ll be very nice if there’s a small garden.

R: Let me see... I recommend you this variant. It’s only 10 minutes from the sea and 15 minutes by car from the capital and Cyprus art school. Moreover, there’s a garden there, a swimming pool and parking place for 2 cars.

H: And what about the number of bedrooms.

R: There’re 7 bedrooms there, but the price is not high at all.

W: I'm not so sure about that... I think it’s too big for us. 

R: Ok, so just wait a second, please... Oh, here it is. 5 bedrooms, 10 minutes from the city, a garden, a swimming pool.

W: And what about the sea?

R: A’m afraid, it’s not near the sea, but the swimming pool there is really nice.

H: Thank you. We like this variant, butwe need some time to think of it properly. May I have your number? Thank you, we’ll give you a call. Good bye.

R: Have a nice day, thank you.
