 “Welcome to London” -  проектный урок

Цели урока: 

- обобщить лингвострановедческий материал по теме «Лондон» в форме ролевой игры.  

- закрепить полученные знания и подвести итог проведенной учебной работе на данном этапе по теме «Лондон»;

- совершенствовать навыки всех видов речевой деятельности;

- использовать устойчивые выражения, клише, лексический материал по теме;  

- воспитывать интерес учащихся к изучению языка и к культуре страны;

- воспитывать получение  хорошего коллективного результата.

Оформление: карта Великобритании, Лондона, символика Лондона (красная роза), картинки с изображением достопримечательностей Лондона, использование ТСО.

Предварительная подготовка: учащиеся готовят небольшие сообщения о достопримечательностях Лондона.

T. Good morning girls and boys! I’m very glad to see you.

P1. We made our project in groups “Welcome to London”.

T. Was it difficult?

P2. I think it was interesting.

T. How do you understand this quotation, these wise words?

P3. I quite agree with this statement, because the world is big and when we travel we learn a lot of interesting and wonderful things.

P4. I think when you meet people from other countries you have a chance to talk with them about cities and countries where they live.

P5. To my opinion, when we travel we improve our English and learn a lot about customs and traditions.

P1. Hi! Have you heard the news? We are the winners of the school contest and we can choose a trip. Where would you like to go?

P2. To my mind going to England is a good idea and London is a city of my dreams. It’s worth visiting.

P3. That’s great! Let’s go to the travel agency to buy a guided tour to London.

Dialogue (at the travel agency)

P1. Hello! We are interested in the trip to London. Is it possible?

Agent.  Certainly! Have a look at these leaflets and choose the trip to London.

P2. We think two day trip will be perfect for us.

T.  It seems to me we have bought the tour to London, so we are ready to start our trip. It begins from Pulkovo II airport. So, are you ready to travel? Welcome on board the plane. You aren’t students now, you are travelers. The pilot is going to take off and the stewardess is ready to speak.

Stewardess. Ladies and gentlemen! I’d like to welcome you aboard British Airways, Flight 253, non-stop to Heathrow Airport in London. Enjoy the flight, please. Thank you.

T. OK, close your eyes. Now open them. You see we are flying to London.

T. It was a wonderful flight. It has come to an end and we are in Heathrow Airport the biggest in London.  We have passed the Customs and the group of English guides is meeting the new comers. We are setting off to London in     double-decker bus and finally we are in London. Our guides are ready to speak about London sights.

 G1. London stands on the river Thames. It’s the capital of Great Britain. It’s an ancient city. London is more than 2000 thousand years old. Now London is a big port and beautiful city with large squares, wide streets and parks. It is a city of theatres, cinemas, art galleries, shopping and entertainment. Londoners are proud of their city. It is full of beauty and harmony.

G2. We start our tour from Tower Bridge. It is the only Thames bridge which can be raised.

G3. On the right bank of the Thames you can see the Tower of London. The English kings and queens lived there in the early days of history. It was a castle, a palace and a prison.  Now it’s a museum. You can see the Crown Jewels of England and the collection of armour.

 G4. The centre of London is Trafalgar Square. It’s the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It’s a monument to Admiral Nelson.

The Houses of Parliament is a very large building which stands near the Thames. Nowadays it’s the place where Parliament meets.

(Picture: Big Ben)                                                                                                                                          The famous clock Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament. Tourists in London always want to see Big Ben and hear the bells. You hear it every hour.

It’s the famous waxworks museum, which has one of the largest collections of wax models in the world. Here you can meet great characters of history and art. Here actors, film stars, pop singers and sportsmen come face to face with famous politicians.
There is a special place for the Queen’s family: the Queen, her husband, their children and other members of the Royal family.

The history and magic of the cinema and TV is explained there. You can act in a Hollywood Western or even draw your own cartoon film. It’s both interesting and good fun.

(Picture: Westminster Abbey)                                                                                              Tourists in London always want to visit Westminster - the symbol of Great Britain. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place there. Many famous people have been buried there.

They are full of trees, grass, flowers and water. You can walk among old trees, relax and admire flowers and plants or take part in many activities. Most parks are free for visitors.

People come here to have picnics, to play different games or just to lie on the grass.

(Picture: monument to Peter Pan)                                                                                                           You can see the famous fairy-tale hero, Peter Pan, in Kensington Gardens. As you know Peter Pan was a boy who did not want to grow up.

The palace is opened for visitors. There are guards outside the palace. They wear red uniforms and fur hats. The ceremony of guards takes place every morning.
