Урок английского языка в 5В классе по теме «Соединенное королевство»

Задачи урока:

социокультурный аспект – знакомство с Соединенным Королевством  

развивающий аспект – развитие способности осуществлять продуктивные речевые действия;

воспитательный аспект – воспитание уважительного отношения к иноязычной культуре;

учебный аспект – совершенствование лексических навыков по теме “Соединенное королевство” на уровне свободного высказывания в виде монологической речи.

1. орг. момент

• Good morning, boys and girls. I’m glad to see you all of you. Take your seats and let’s begin our lesson. At first answer all my questions, please.

1. What date is it today?
2. What day of a week is it today?
3. What is the weather today?
4. Who is absent today?

• Thank you for your answers. Now let’s begin our work. At first look at the blackboard try to read the words together after me: United Kingdom, Great Britain, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, symbol, capital, red rose, daffodil, shamrock, thistle. Who wants to be first and read?
• ….
• Well-done! The next task is that you should match the words and transcription:
• Good job! Let’s continue, answer my question: What is the full name of the country?
•  The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
• Excellent. Now take this small size of the map. You will find the borders of the main parts of the country and colour them. What are the main parts of the UK?

• The main parts of the UK are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
•  Now we will speak about the main cities, another one the capitals. Its country has its own capitals. What is the capital of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? You must match them on your maps.
• The capital of England is London.  The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The capital of Wales is Cardiff. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast.
• Well done. Now look at these pictures and say what are they?
• You are right; they are the national symbols of the countries. Let’s match what countries do they belong to?
•    The red rose is the symbol of England         The thistle is the symbol of Scotland                           The daffodil is the symbol Wales

   The shamrock is the symbol of the Northern Ireland

• You’ve done well. I’ll show you one picture you must guess what is it?
• You are right children it’s the flag of Great Britain. But what’s the name of the flag? What colors does it consist of?
• The flag is called “Union Jack”. It consists of three colors: red, white and blue.
• Now take the color pencils and paint the flag.
• After our hard work, we’ll try to retell. Make the short text. These statements will help you in your discussion.

The capital of England is London, the capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, the capital of Wales is Cardiff, and the capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The main river is the Thames. The coasts of the country are washed by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and Irish Sea. All the countries have their own symbols: England – the red rose, Scotland – the thistle, Wales – the daffodil, the Northern Ireland – the shamrock.
