A computer game: The Lost Statue

In this game you are in a small country called Neverland. It is a deserted place. The weather there is terrible. It rains a lot and there are strong winds. The only people there are two young brothers. They live alone in their small house on the beach. In the game, you are one of the boys – Josh or Frank. Josh loves the beach very much and he is good at windsurfing. Frank is interested in doing quizzes and playing guessing games.

One day, they meet a strange man. He collects old things. He needs to find a small statue from the Stone Age and he asks the boys for help.

You decide to help the man. First, you talk to the man and learn about the lost statue. Then, with your brother, organise a trip around Neverland to look for it. On the way you play games, answer questions, do quizzes, visit different places and talk to different people. Collect objects and souvenirs – they are very useful and help you find the lost statue and win the game.

В: Are you going on holiday this summer, Jane?

J: Yes, Barbara, I ’m going to Spain, to Madrid in two weeks.

B: Wow, lucky you! I have always wanted to visit Spain! Well don’t forget your sunglasses, it’ll be much sunnier than here.

J: That’s OK. I love the sunshine.

B: Are you going by bus?

J: Oh, no. Buses are very tiring. I’d like to go by plane. They are fast and comfortable. But planes are expensive. Also I don’t like it that you have to come to the airport at least two hours before your departure.

B: But don’t you spend your time going through the check-in and passport control?

J: Yes, but It’s all so slow and you have to wait all the time... Anyway I ’m going by train. It will take me about 10 hours to get to Spain by train.

B: Are you staying in a hotel?

J: Yes, I’ve already booked a single room in a hotel near the city centre. It’s comfortably furnished and has all modern conveniences.

B: Sounds great. I ’m sure it’s not far from the main sights of the city.

J: It isn’t. And there are a lot of nice shops on the same street.

B: Is Pam going with you?

J: Well, some family friends have invited them to Italy, so they’re all going there.

B: Are they travelling by train too?

J: No, they are flying. They will be staying with their friends, so they don’t need to pay for a hotel.

B: And what about Jessica? She always has great holidays. Last year it was China, wasn’t it?

J: You are quite right. At firs t she was thinking about going to Mexico this year, then she decided to go to Egypt. She’s going there by bus 68

В: Oh yes, the Egyptian pyramids. What can be more exciting! Is anybody going to France? I really want to go there.

J: Yes, you should talk to Tom. He is going there by car. I ’m sure he’ll enjoy your company.
