London meets The new millennium

"Лондон навстречу новому тысячелетию"

Цель и задачи мероприятия

Цель: Прививать интерес к культуре и традиций страны изучаемого языка , развить языковую и творческую активность учащихся.

Задачи:

-совершенствовать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся, эмоциональную и эстетическую сторону в процессе обучения иностранному языку.

-развивать и углублять знания по страноведению

-повышать познавательный интерес к английскому языку

Ожидаемые учебные результаты (личностные, метапредметные, предметные)

Личностные:

- формирование уважения к другим странам и их культуре;

- формирование творческих способностей учащихся;

Метапредметные:

- формирование и развитие ИКТ компетентности;

- формирование навыка планирования и регуляции своей деятельности;

Предметные:

- формирование и развитие коммуникативных умений

- расширение словарного запаса по теме «Лондон»;

- знакомство с достопримечательностями Лондона  и формирование социокультурной компетенции.

Сценарий мероприятия:

Робин Гуд и его друзья попали в XXI век в Лондон.

На сцене лежат в зелёных накидках с капюшонами, одетые как Робин Гуд и его друзья. Просыпаются, встают, ищут друг-дуга и зовут:

Уилл:

- Robin, where are you, Robin?

Робин Гуд:

- I’m here, Will, Much the Miller, Alan-a-dale, Little John, Friar Tuck, my Merry  Men, you are here! But where are we?

Маленький Джон:

- It’s not our Sherwood forest!

Оглядываются туда-сюда в изумлении, изображают испуг. На экране виды Лондона, высотки, мчатся машины, поезда…

Вдруг, под звук фанфары  появляется Королева. Робин Гуд и его друзья подбегают к ней и падают на колени:

- Your Majesty!

- Your Majesty, help us, tell us where we are?

- Your Majesty? (удивленно)

Встают и отходят назад.

Королева:

- don’t be afraid Merry Men, I’m Elizabeth II, Queen of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. You are in England, in the XXI century. Tell me, how have you appeared here?

Стихотворение  “Time machine”(Opportunities, изд. «Longman»).

Робин Гуд и его друзья рассказывают что сними приключилось:

• Time machine,

Let’s go back in time:

First stop was Ancient Greece,

Times of war and times of peace,

Mathematicians and philosophers,

Socrates and Herodotus.

• Next stop a long way from home,

I was in the streets of Ancient Rome

The Coliseum in all its glory

The circus games were another story.

• Columbus sailed from East to West,

America was born, you know the rest,

I saw the days of French revolution

The guillotine was no solution.

• I saw times of darkness and times of light,

Politicians from the left and the right,

World war I and World war II,

An iron curtain between me and you.

• I saw a man walking up in space

The Berlin Wall sank without a trace,

A world of robots and machines

What’s the future for you and me?

Королева:

- Future? Future will bring us a lot of happiness, people will learn how to love each other, how to take care of each other, how to take care of our country and our planet.

Робин Гуд и друзья:

-Oh, we like it and we are happy, we are The Merry Men!

Поют песню “If you are happy”.

Уходят под музыку “Robin hood”. Выходят на сцену без накидок, в белых футболках с флагом Великобритании на футболках.

Ученик 1

-Here we are in the XXI century, in New millennium London.  

London stands up as one of the most entertaining, historical, magical, and cosmopolitan cities in the world! With the beginning of the Third millennium London has changed its face and it has become more exiting, more attractive. London met The new millennium with the opening of several huge constructions, such as the Dome of a millennium (Millennium Dome),  Millennium  bridge and London Eye, the big observation wheel which has become a new symbol of the city.

-In the beginning of the XXI century London achieved the right for hosting the Olympic Games of 2012. The capital of Great Britain becomes the first city which had the Olympic Games three times. Sport plays a very important role in English life. England is the current holder of The Millennium Trophy. It is a rugby union award, contested annually by Ireland and England as part of the Six Nations Championship. It was initiated in 1988 as a part of  millennial celebrations. The trophy has the shape of a horned Viking helmet. England has won it 17 times.

-Would you like to get a bird’s eye view of London, as well as having the experience of a lifetime? If so, let’s take an exciting ride on one of the biggest observation wheel London eye. The view of the city of London is breathtaking. On a clear day, one can see as far as 25 miles (40 kilometers) in all directions.

 The wheel is also known as The millennium wheel because it was built in 2000 for the Millennium. It is located on the South Bank of the River Thames in London.

-The Millennium Bridge, officially known as the London Millennium Footbridge, It is the first new bridge across the river Thames in London since Tower Bridge opened in 1894. The bridge links the City of London near St Paul's Cathedral with the Tate Modern art gallery on Bankside.

The construction of the bridge began in 1998 and was solemnly opened in June 2000 in honor to The new millennium.

This bridge celebrates and encourages human movement and communication. While walking on it you can enjoy the amazing panoramic view of the sights of London: St. Paul’s cathedral, Tate modern gallery, famous Globe theatre.

-We live on a wonderful and exiting planet, but from the space we can see almost nothing on it and this beautiful planet seems desert. But only two constructions are seen from the darkness: Great Chinese Wall and The Millennium Dome.  The Millennium Dome is the original name of a large dome-shaped building, which was built to celebrate the beginning of the third millennium. It is located on the Greenwich Peninsula in South East London, England. The Prime Meridian passes the western edge of the Dome and this place is zero of the third millennium.

-It's over 50 meters high and over 300 meters in diameter. It's as high as Nelson's Column, could swallow 2 Wembley Stadiums, 3300 double-decker buses and still would have some spare room!

There are 14 exhibition zones in the Dome, and each of them has something to amaze and educate everyone who visits it. In Home Planet zone, for example, you'll be able to go on a virtual trip through space.

- Multilayered, multicultural, various, exciting, boundless, huge and unique – words may be endless. You will never find two identical opinions about it. It’s impossible to describe London in few words. One is right, it has glorious history, it had bad times and good times, it was fallen down and built again.
