Внеклассное мероприятие «Self Development» для учащихся 10-11 классов

Данное мероприятие проводилось для смешанных групп 10-11 классов по 10 человек.

Цели мероприятия:

1. повышение мотивации к изучению иностранного языка;
2. развитие артикуляционных навыков;
3. развитие навыков говорения;
4. развитие умения работать в парах, индивидуально, в группе.

Оснащение: ватман, листы бумаги, раздаточный материал.

Ход мероприятия:

1. сообщение задач и правил проведения мероприятия;
2. осуществление поставленных задач;
3. подведение итогов.

Hello everybody! Today we are going to develop our skills.

Here you can see a picture of a man, which is reflecting our state right now. During our development we will draw something new near him. (a poster is on the wall)

1. The first station is Creativeness. Let’s split into pairs. One person from each pair will receive a picture and the other one will receive a sheet of paper. The first one, with the picture is going to describe the picture and the second one is going to draw due to the instructions. You have 5 minutes for this task; try not to show the picture to your neighbor.  

Now compare the pictures.

So we developed our creativeness. What can we draw on the poster with the man? (a brush, colors, a hat)

2. The second station is concerned with Artistry. I ask 7 people to come up to me and to choose one piece of paper. Don’t show them to anybody. You have different names of the characters from favorite fairy-tales. You should show your character without naming it, but you can speak, in English of course. You have 2 minutes to prepare.

(Piglet, Snow-white, Carlson, Postman Pechkin, Rapunzel)

So what can we add to the poster? (a mask)

3. The third station is Romanticism. Let’s split into 4 groups (2 по 4 чел, 2 по 3 чел).  Each group has 4 words.  Work in groups and write a poem with these words. But the poem should be about love. You have 5 minutes. Choose the speaker and let’s listen to your poems.

What can we add to our poster? (a flower, a heart)

4. To speak beautifully and distinctly we should train our articulation skills. So the next station is Articulation.  Now choose a piece of paper and join with the people of the same colour (листочки 3-х цветов). We have three groups. Each group will receive a tongue twister. Read the tongue twister in your group and train it many many times.

Red lolly, yellow lolly.

The King would sing, about a ring that would go ding.

I’m a mother pheasant plucker, I pluck mother pheasants.

I’m the best mother pheasant plucker that ever plucked a mother pheasant.

Read your tongue twister aloud. Now group number one begin reading your tongue twister, then group number two join with your tongue twister and then the third group.

What can we draw on the poster? What can we write?

5. Now we are going to develop our Speech skills. Imagine that you are the reporters from the famous TV-channel in Russia, but you can speak only English on this channel.  Each of you has some news and you should present them using your own words and suppositions. You have 5 minutes to prepare.

News:

1. Revolution in the USA: instead of Santa Claus now … is going to be a symbol of New Year Holidays.
2. Students from Vyatka State Universities of Humanities build McDonalds in Kirov.
3. New record: children from Chine can sew 30 coats per hour.
4. A pupil from our gymnasium invented a new model of I-phone.
5. The girls who hold 99 balloons flew away.

Let’s stick all the news on the poster and colour it as you wish.

6. Do you remember the English alphabet? Let’s revise it. (a,b,c,…)

Imagine that you haven’t seen each other for ages and begin chatting, but remember that each your phrase should begin with the letter in alphabetical order. I mean the first one begin with A and the second one begin with B. Let’s do this in chain.

Now let’s sum everything up and let’s have a look at our poster. It has really changed from the very beginning. What have we developed today? Creativeness, Artistry, Romanticism, Articulation and Speech Skills. Hope you liked everything we have done today.
