The structure of the lesson:

1. Организационный момент.

- Hello, Dmitry!

- I am very glad to see you.

1. Установка.

Teacher (T):  - Dmitry, today we continue to talk about different kinds of sport. And I want you to watch video about “Sport in Great Britain”. And answer my question, please:  What are the most popular kinds of sports in Great Britain?

Learner (L): - Cricket, Rugby, Football, Golf, Swimming, Cycling, Horse rising, Aerobics, Running.

Teacher (T):  Ok, well done. But today I would like to talk about sport in Russian. So, the theme of our lesson is “Popular sports in Russia”.

Teacher (T):  I am sure all people would like to be happy and healthy. They say:

“Healthy is better than wealthy”.  – Здоровье - наибольшее   богатство.

Do you agree with the proverb? Why? Why not?

Learner (L):  I agree with this proverb. I think people can buy different things but they can’t buy their health. Because sport helps us be strong and slim, to look beautiful and to be in a good mood.

Teacher (T):  - It was very interesting to know your opinion.

Teacher (T):  - And now, let’s play. Please, guess what kind of sport it is.

1. It’s a game played between 2 people or two pairs of people who use rackets = tennis

2. It’s a game in which you try to knock a ball into a goal =football

3. It’s a game for 2 teams of 11 players who use special sticks to hit a ball = hockey

4. The sport of those who swim = swimming

5.  It’s a game between 2 teams of 5 players. Each team tries to throw a large ball into the other team’s basket = basketball

Teacher (T):  So, look at the screen and let’s remember to pronounce types of sports. You will read them. And than, can you choose the names of sports games?

Teacher (T):  - Well done.  Dmitry, Let’s answer my questions, please.

1. Can you say that sport is your hobby? ( Yes, I can. Sport is my hobby).
2. What sports are you fond of? (I am fond of chess).
3. What team games do you know? (The team games are football, hockey, volleyball, baseball, rugby and others).
4. Why do many people go in for sports? (Sport helps us to become strong and healthy).
5.  Is football popular in Russia? (Yes, it is. Football is popular in Russia).

Выражение согласия или несогласия с учителем.

1. Now I want you to agree or disagree with my statements.

1. You are not sporty. (It is false. I am sporty. I am fond of running, horse riding and chess.
2. You care about your health. (It is true. I care about my health).
3. You are a highly skilled volleyball player. (I am afraid you are not right. I am not a highly skilled volleyball player).

Teacher (T):  - Thank you. Now, let’s check your homework.  Your task was to prepare project about sport. Let’s start!

1. Thank you, very much. And, say me, please. What sport is popular in your family?

Learner (L):  Skiing, running and playing chess are popular in my family.

Teacher (T):  - I can see you are tired.  Listen to me and try to repeat after me.

I wiggle my fingers,

I wiggle my toes,

I wiggle my shoulders,

I wiggle my nose.

Now no more wiggles

Are left in me.

So I will  sit  still

As still as can be.

Teacher (T):  - And now let's a little talk about “Popular sports in Russia”. At home you should read the small text about “Popular sports in Russia”.

1. Well, and now, let’s read it and then answer the questions.
2. Do Russian people like sports?
3. How many people go in for sports?
4. When did our sportsmen first take part in world championship?
5. What is the most popular winter sport?
6. What games besides football do Russian people play with great pleasure?

Sports is very popular in Russia. More than 30 million people go to sports centers. There are a lot of different sports that are very popular in Russia. One of them is football. Nearly 5 million people go in for it. Almost each town has its own team. Football fans fill the stadiums every game to support their favourite players.

Ice hockey is one of the most popular among winter sports. Russian players have been taken part in world championships since 1954. Many people like athletics and they do it with great pleasure. Russian sportsmen are the European, World and Olympic records holders in different disciplines. Other popular sports games are basketball and volleyball. The men’s and women’s teams won Olympic, European and World Champions titles for many times.

Learner (L):
