Teacher: Glad to see you. You have been working hard preparing for their Finals and now we are going to prepare for your final English exam.

Ok? Let’s start.

        What ideas are related Finals for you? В течение минуты ученики называют свои ассоциации со словом «ЕГЭ».

Teacher: Your ideas nearly the same as your classmate.

Look at the blackboard. Last lesson I asked one student to give four associations with Finals. Here they are.

2. Teacher: Well, frankly speaking your associations are not very cheerful. Why is it so? Let s try to prepare for your Final English exam very well. The theme of the lesson is “Spotlight on Exam”

4. Teacher: The second part of the final English exam is Reading. While doing the task it’s essential to choose the proper information.

What is reading for our lesson? It’s filling the gaps with missing sentences. Doing the task properly involves both context and grammar. Here are some quotations about education and teachers. The endings have been removed from them. Fill the gaps with the proper ending. Divide into two teams. Each team is given a card. You have time – two minutes. In two minutes the first team will read even sentences, the second – odd sentences. Begin.

1. Low salaries

To start with, beginners have very low salaries. That’s why young and talented people don’t want to go to school, and we, old teachers, have to work more.

Nevertheless, when you have worked long enough, your salary is quite sufficient for a woman. There are not so many jobs for a woman nowadays, where their salaries are high. Teachers of English have an opportunity to get some extra work if they have financial problems. English is in great demand now.

2. A lot of work

No doubt, a teacher has an awful, a terrible lot of work and very long working hours. In addition, teachers have a lot of paper work nowadays.  On the whole, the work is exhausting. By the end of the school year you are mentally and physically tired

However, teaching is a creative and challenging job. This way it helps you to forget about your problems and illnesses. They say “The busy have no time for tears”. What is more, teachers have flexible working hours. If you need it badly, you can give up everything and do what you want when the lessons are over.

3. Public opinion

Unfortunately, public opinion and people are often unfair to teachers. Everybody thinks it to be possible to judge teachers. There are lot of inspections and quite unnecessary requirements.

But the president of Russia pays much attention to our profession nowadays. In fact, wherever you go (to a shop, to a hairdresser’s, to an office), you always have a chance to meet your former students or your students’ parents, who are willing to help you. Luckily, there are my former students in many cities of Russia. If necessary, I can apply to them for help. They can put me up, for example.

4. Naughty children

On the one hand, children and teenagers sometimes are too noisy and naughty. You never know what to expect from them. To make matters worse, injuries can happen at school, and a teacher can be accused of carelessness.

On the other hand, if you work with young people, you feel younger. As far as I am concerned, it would be harder for me to deal with grown-ups. In my opinion, it is easier to deal with teenagers. When you are a teacher, you can listen to modern music in class and talk about anything you like. And, last but not least, children are the best thing at school. I have never wished to work in a place without children. Working at school, you get a lot of love. No other job can bring you so much love.

Teacher: What conclusion would you make? Do you think we have done all this just to persuade you to take up teaching profession? Well, why not? We need good teachers. But that’s not the point. I want you to appreciate your teachers better. I would like you to have sweet memories of your teachers as knowledgeable, intelligent and loving people. But just people, human beings, who can be tired or upset.

 So it’s time for my l poem.

Teacher: the standards of the Final Exam might be changed. This way you might have discussion. Let us try our hand at this difficult task and reflect over our progress in preparation for the final English Exam. The following plan will help you.

  1. Introduction. Define your personal aim of preparing for the Final English Exam.
  2.  Your strong point. Where are you getting better?
  3.  Your weak point. What is the most difficult?
  4.   Conclusion. Are you satisfied with your progress? What can be done?
