Цели и задачи:

1. Развивать творческие способности учащихся, умение их грамотно демонстрировать и применять их в учебном процессе.
2. Стимулировать учебную мотивацию школьников, развивать умение работать в команде, коммуникативную грамотность, внимательность и умение слушать и уважать собеседника.
3. Обобщить знания по различным темам: « Британия», «Город», «Предлоги», «Цвета» и другие.

Учебные пособия:

Карточки со скороговорками, карточки с зашифрованным письмом, карточки с грамматическими и лексическими заданиями,  презентации по теме «Достопримечательности Англии», кроссворды,  листы ватмана и цветные карандаши (для конкурса художников).

Ход мероприятия:

1. Организационный момент.

Boys and girls,

         I’m very glad to see you here. We’ll organize a competition called “Enjoy English”. Two teams will take part in a game of the most quick-witted and the cleverest. It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1st team?

1. I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is … . Our motto is … .
2. Who is the captain of the 2nd team?
3. I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is … . Our motto is … .

 - Today all of you have a good chance to improve your English during the game. I have invited a competent jury to count the points. The members of our jury are … .

Well, the game has 8 contests, they are:

1. Tongue-twisters

2. British Quiz
3. Places
4. Grammar test
5. Artists’ competition
6. “Crossword Puzzle”, “English and Russian proverbs”
7. “Hidden words”
8. “A magic 5”.
9. New words
10.  “The riddles”

So let’s start our competition. I wish you good luck, do your best! Be active, honest and helpful! The award will be splendid, believe me.

2. Основной этап.

1).We’ll begin our competition with tongue-twisters. There is a card with a tongue-twister, a person from each team should read it as quickly as he can 3 times. Each team can get 3 points. You have one minute to be ready for reading. First listen to me… And now you have one minute to train it.

2).The 2nd contest. British quiz.

Warming up. You should answer my questions about Great Britain. If one team can’t answer the question, the 2nd team may answer and get a point.

1. How many parts are there in Great Britain?
2. What river is the capital situated on?
3. Who is the head of the country?
4. What is the home of the Queen?
5. What is the double-decker?
6. What is Big Ben?
7. What is the symbol of England?
8. Where did the detective Sherlock Holmes live? Name the street.
9. What is the most famous lake in Scotland?
10. When do British people celebrate Christmas?
11. What is the capital of  England?
12. What is the capital of  Scotland?

3)The  3rd contest is called “Places“. You should fill in the missing letters and translate the words. The right answer is one point.

4 )Next contest is called “Grammar test”. You should choose the right answer . It’s necessary to write only the letters on the sheet of paper. Do you best.

5)Next task is called “Artists”.

You should take a sheet of paper, pencils and be ready to draw a picture. Listen to me very attentively, I’ll read it twice and then you’ll draw. You can get 8 points.

There is a big house in the middle of the picture. The house is yellow with a red roof. There are two windows in the house and one door. To the left of the house there is a green tree. To the right of the house there are three flowers. One flower is red, the second flower is yellow, the third flower is blue. Under the tree there is a black dog.

Draw the picture. You have only four minutes.

6) The next contest will be for captains. It is called “Crossword Puzzle”. Your task is guess the words and write them in English.Go to the blackboard . There is a crossword for you.

At the same time your teams will do another task. I’ll give you a card with “English and Russian proverbs”. Match the proverbs with the same meaning.

     You have four minutes to do it. (Готовое задание проверяет жюри). You can get 5 points.

7)The 7th contest is called “Hidden words”. Find, please, the animals hiding in the following sentences.

Example: Close the door at once! (rat)

8)The 8th contest is called “ A magic 5”

Look at the square, each team will take turns in answering questions. You’ ll choose any number. “ …”, it’s your turn to start. Captains will have an opportunity to choose the number.

You can get 5 points for the right answer.

1 Name 5 colours.

2 Name 5 school subjects.

3 Name 5 letters.

4 Name 5 animals.

5 Name 5 ajectives (прилагательных).

6 Name 5 British sights (достопримечательности).

7 Name 5 English names.

8 Name  5 things that people wear.

9 Name 5 cartoons’ characters (герои мультфильмов).

10 Name 5 things that people eat.

10. Name 5 verbs.
11. Name 5 numbers.

9)And the last task is to write words from one long word as many as possible.  One word is one point. It is called “New words”.

And now while our jury sum up the resalts, you may guess the riddles and get a sweet prize.

2 It lives in the forest. It is often red  and has a bushy tail. What’s this? (a fox)

3 It is small animal. It is afraid of everything, and it can run very fast. What’s this? (a hare)

4 It is called the king of the animals. What’s this? ( a lion)

5  It is a very funny animal. It can climb trees and likes bananas very much. What’s this? ( a monkey)

6 What clothing does a house wear? (address)

7 What can teach without talking? ( a book)

8 It runs but has no legs. (time)

9 Children don’t like to drink especially when it’s warm. (milk)

10. What man is made from snow? (a snowman)

11 What goes up when the rain comes down? ( an mbrella)

12 We can skate on it. What is it? (ice)

12. It is white. It is cold. It is wet. (snow)
13. It is very big animal. It is grey and has a long, long nose. What’s this?

Подведение итогов занятия.

Our jury will add up the score of the game.
Jury: The score is … to … in smb’s favour. The team “…” is the winner.
Выступление Жюри

Boys and girls! It was very difficult to decide who the best among you are. But your results are:

The first team has … points.

The second team has … points.

The third team has … points.

The fourth team has … points.

And so …  the score is … to … in … favour. The winner is the team  “……..”.

The team “……..” is the second.
