       Тема: Новогодний фейерверк

       Цели:

1. Обобщение изученного материала по теме «Новогодние праздники в разных странах»;
2. Активизация лексических навыков;
3. Тренировка навыков чтения и аудирования.

       Оборудование: запись песни “Jingle Bells”, презентации, листы с текстами, тетради, ручки,

       простые карандаши.

ХОД УРОКА:

        I. Организационный момент

          1. Приветствие:

       - Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you. I hope you are glad to see me too.

         Let’s welcome our guests. Sit down.

          2. Организация на урок:

        - And now let’s prepare for our lesson. There are record-books, books, dictionaries, copy-books,

          pens and pencils on your desks.

          3. Сообщение темы, задач урока:

        - The theme of our lesson is New Year holiday. Today we shall talk about this holiday in

          different countries.

          During our lesson:

1. You will work with the text “New Year in different countries”;
2. You will complete the sentences about “New Year in Russia”;
3. You will work with the poem “I wish I were a Snowman”.

        II. Фонетическая разминка

          1. Исполнение песни “Jingle Bells”

       - I suggest starting our lesson with the song “Jingle Bells”.

(Pupils sing the song “Jingle Bells”)

Dashing through the snow

In a one-horse open sleigh

Over the fields we go,

Laughing all the way.

Bells on bobtail ring

Making spirit bright.

What fun it is to ride and sing

           2. Упражнение на составление английских слов:

        - Now you should make up the new words using the letters of the word “Congratulations”.

        - Make a sentence with one of them (Приложение 1, 2).

       III. Речевая разминка

        - Answer my questions

 1) How many seasons are there in a year?

 2) Name them, please.

 3) What season is now?

 4) Do you like winter? Why?

 5) What winter holidays do you know?

 6) Do you like New Year? Why?

       IV. Работа с текстом “New Year in different countries” (Приложение 3)

       - Read the short texts how people celebrate New Year in different countries and choose what

       country or  city is spoken about. Let’s play the game “The interpreter”. You will work in pairs. One

       of you will read the extract, the other will translate it.

       1. In this city a lot of people gather in Times Square and watch the “Big Apple” fall. “The Big fall”

       isn’t a real apple. It’s a moving picture of an apple on the side of one of the big buildings in Times

       Square. Every New Year’s Eve during the last few seconds before midnight it starts to “fall”

       down the building, and when it gets to the bottom it’s the start of the New Year.

       2. In this country housewives start cooking special food for New Year’s Day and all the members

       of the family do a big cleaning up. The idea is to get rid of the dirt of the past year, and welcome the

       New Year without it. On the television and radio you can hear 108 bells. The 108th bell rings just a

       second before the midnight. The people say, “Happy New Year!” People eat the special food and

       drink rice wine during the meal.

       3. People call the New Year’s Eve “Hogmanay”. They visit their friend’s houses just after midnight

       on the New Year’s night. The first person who comes to your house brings you luck. At midnight

       when the clock begins to strike 12, the head of the family goes to the entrance door, opens it

       wide and holds it until the last stroke. Then he shuts the door. He has let the old year out and let the

       New Year in.

       4. This country is sometimes called “the upside down world”. It lies in the Southern Hemisphere.

       During the Christmas holidays people often sunbathe on the beach or swim and surf in the ocean.

       On the 31st of December many people go to the country for the picnic. In January the temperatures are

       from 20 to 30 °C above zero or higher.

       5. In this country it can be dangerous to have a walk at night at the end of December. People usually

       throw the old things from the house through the window: broken cups and plates, old clothes and

       boots and sometimes different pieces of furniture. People believe that on the New Year’s Eve the

       magician Befaniya comes to the houses through the chimney and put the presents for children in

       their stockings or shoes.

       - We have just known how the people from different countries celebrate New Year. But what about

         our    country? Now if you complete the sentences from the words you will be able to tell us how

         the Russians celebrate this holiday (Приложение 4).

       VI. Работа со стихотворением “I wish I were a Snowman”

       - There are a lot of New Year poems. We’ll work with one of them called “I wish I were a

       Snowman”. Now you’ll listen to this poem and put down the missing words in your sheets. You will

       listen it twice.

I wish I were … … (a Snowman),

So tall and … (big) and white.

I’d never have to clean my … (teeth),

Or go to bed at … (night).

But … (maybe) Mister Snowman

Is wishing … (he) were me,

For I’ll be here when … (summer) comes,

But where will the Snowman … (be)?

       - Now you should read your variants.

       - Read this poem (Приложение 5) .
